Modern history of humanity begins from the 15th century and onwards.

However, the best preservation of it started after the invention of the camera — this device has changed the way we preserve our history forever and now it is our primary way of preserving an event or a moment.

With that being said there are many photos that have been snapped throughout history after the invention of the camera and among them are those that don’t even know if they even exist.

For this article we have narrowed it to famous people that we only know of but we have never seen them.

Read below to find out more about these iconic names and see how they looked.

The Napoleonic Army also known as Grande Armée — at its peak it was made up of more than 600,000 men. It was one of the most modern armies of its time made up of three combat arms: the infantry, the cavalry and the artillery.

It was also the only army of its time which had an engineering corps and a full health service system. Being an amazingly organized lot they were the most formidable force of their time.

John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States from 1825 to 1829 was an American statesman, lawyer, diarist, and a diplomat.

John also served as the United States secretary of state.

His iconic photograph was taken 14 years after he left the White House — the first President to be photographed while being in the office was the 11th President of the United States, James K.

Harriet Tubman Later In Her Life, 1911

Harriet Tubman the iron lady of her time was a social activist and an proactive American Abolitionist.

Tubman was born into slavery but with her unbreakable will to help Blacks and slaves of her time Tubman not only escaped her enslavement but she also made some 13 mission in which she saved more than 70 slaves be it friends or family.

Tubman started working for Black freedom at a very early age and it is believed she had a network of antislavery activists and safe houses which was known as the Underground Railroad.

Billy The Kid From American Old West, 1878

If you are someone who was brought up in the 90’s you must have seen one movie that was based on the Old American West — like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly and if you are not that ancient we shall say Django Unchained.

Anyway coming back to the point — all these movies are famous for their gun slinging and their awesome way of speaking.

One of the most infamous characters from the real life Old West is Billy The Kid.

At the age of 21 he had killed more than most of the outlaws of his time. The man who killed Billy describes and compares his shooting skills with a flash.

Andrew Jackson, 1844

Andrew Jackson the 7th President of the United States of America from 1829 to 1837. Jackson was a lawyer, general, and a statesman before he sat foot in White Office.

Jackson was first elected from Tennessee as a member of house of representatives.

However, most of his fame came from his time with the United States Army where he severed as a major general during the War of 1812. He became a national hero when he defeated the British Forces in New Orleans.

The Last Veteran Of The Battle Of Waterloo, 1815

One of the most significant of its time because of many reasons but a couple of main reasons were that it proved to be the last nail into the coffin of Napoleon Bonaparte’s long reign.

In the Battle of Waterloo Napoleon Bonaparte faced a defeat from the hands of the Duke of Wellington — Napoleon was one of the greatest military strategists of his time and because of his this ability Napoleon rose through the French Revolutionary Army ranks during the late 1700s.

The defeat of Waterloo is famous because it was Napoleon’s last defeat before he was abdicated as the emperor of France and exiled to St. Helena.

Final Words

We have seen a lot of history in pictures whether it be these famous personalities or glimpse of famous events or incidents and the more we see the less it feels that we have seen our past.

All we can do is hope that this time will be well preserved for our generations to come and when they are digging their past like us they will find a lot about their past.
