Unleash Your Inner Maverick: Break Free from Monotony or Stay Stuck Forever
But not all upgrades work in your favor, so be careful.
Try to recall the days you stayed where you are, just going with the flow of earthly life. Trying to copy the crowd and embracing whatever the world is doing.
Two years ago, I had a client in career coaching who remained static but had a high-paying job. Eventually, he got redundant, and he needed help to search for a similar task paying him.
He honestly told me that he applied for more than a thousand jobs already, but all he got was rejection letters all the time. What I admire about him is that he knew he needed to change by merely approaching me on LinkedIn. He had the intent.
Despite being jobless for more than a year, there was a lot of hope there.
He had spent a lot of his money educating himself, which led him to land a manager role for one of the big four consulting firms in the world.
Thank God for his commitment to grow and for holding on.
Diving into the unknown with purpose
The thought of considering life as a routine is usual to the many. If we were non-humans, it would be easy to program and automate our lives because it would be straightforward if we took an inventory of our activities daily.
The more I get enlightened about my Ikigai, the deeper in my Christian life. I do not need to hate my job, as I mentioned in my previous articles, but I seek more great things I can do now in my current work.
The more I approach life in this manner, the clearer it becomes to me how I can uphold my passions, exercise my vocation, achieve my mission, and receive blessings from my profession without minding what route to take.
If you know where you are in good hands and holding a well-maintained compass, going outside the usual would not bother you.
It might take you to unfamiliar roads like using Waze, but the promise of getting there is natural if you dive into the unknown but know your purpose.
Barely Breathing
Yes, that song by Duncan Sheik, you may not find singing in tune because you have a fruitful romantic relationship, but life may seem troubled and distant from life in general.
More and more people feel like blah.
They are not out there to win (although the urge is there, and they continue to ignore it) but to live — if you know what I mean.
I am not pointing at people who lived the same way fifteen years ago unless you are some guys living in a blue-zone country.
Man, I envy you!
I am saying that if you haven’t tried something new, you will definitely feel jailed because you are bound to grow. It is our nature.
Little actions to massive results
Speaking of a healthy diet, I watched a YouTube video about centenarians.
We all eat fast foods; here, they work manually to process, eat, and consume fresh and organic meals daily.
The small decision to eat whatever is within their reach from the garden or farm leads to a higher life expectancy rate.
We may not have a garden in the central business district, but the free will to choose even in small things can make a significant difference in life — and we all know this.
If you do not break free, then do not expect any profit from doing the same old things.
Exploring new things, knowing your purpose, having the will to win, and executing can unleash that maverick in you.
