PROMPT RESPONSE
Under the Cover of Night
A dark and stormy nocturne

The fierce roll of thunder Bellows into the darkened night Solace is what I seek In the warmth of the glowing lamplight
Many times refuge was chased Under the halo of kerosene Within this ramshackle cabin A place for my heart to come clean
Amind the gems and junk Combatting the ticking of clocks Music faintly flows into the air Housed in an antique music box
Slowly I make my way over Desperate to hear it sing Stumbling through a curious midnight Til’ my foot finds a keyring
Shining the lamp upon it Its steely circle is bare Suddenly a feeling overcomes me As if I’m on a road to god knows where
My hand reaches under the box Flailing in fumbled surprise Here is the key to it all Unlocking its treasures for only my eyes
Horror and shock seize my body Immediately I slam it shut No one should see what I have A deep churning brews in my gut
Once more the light finds me And I know I’ll never return Before the dawn rises Everything here must burn
