Trusting Your Inner Guidance

Day 8: Knowing that trusting your feelings will lead you to your true path

Lightly treading the path to spiritual growth, feeling the cool morning air and knowing my heart will lead the way has been such a joyful experience so far, as I explore 100 days of learning from the book: The Infinite Self by Stuart Wilde.

Today is all about opening your heart. Opening your heart to the possibility that all you need to do is trust your true feelings. At first this can seem very foreign to us. We are all used to making pro and con lists, endlessly thinking about our choices and using our mind and intellect to decide on which path to take. There is a different way to explore life. It is a new way, but when you trust it, you will be surprised by what you discover.

In any given situation, it doesn’t matter so much what is logical; what matters most is asking what feels right. Once you have decided what feels right, move down that path gingerly; watch for any inconsistencies and problems, and adjust your actions accordingly. -Stuart Wilde

Trusting our heart and inner guidance requires us to truly tune in to our feelings. Those feelings are ones that keep gently nudging us in a direction. They are not the voices from your mind that are mean to your spirit, like telling you that you are not enough, or that you aren’t getting enough done, or that you should do certain things according to society.

Our heart guidance is a gentle voice inside of us. We will hear this beautiful guidance more when we observe our mind’s thoughts and let them pass by more. Once we do that, we can tune in more to the loving frequency of the heart. That guidance is loving, nurturing and leads us down paths that are for our highest good.

As you start to trust, it leads you graciously, step by step. It will take you to the next person, the next place, the highest spot-it knows. How does it know? Because it is everywhere, and everything is a feeling, so it is all-knowing. As you concentrate and begin to rely upon it, it becomes stronger. A door opens inside of you. Click! -Stuart Wilde

In the past few days I have started a project for my business. However, I kept hearing whispers from my inner guidance that I needed to get my papers, accounting, receipts and email in order. I kept hearing that gentle voice. It doesn’t mean that I am abandoning the project. It means that I feel that my inner being knows that once I get those things in order, things will flow better and the project will go more smoothly. I trust this, and I am setting aside time to get those things in order today. I am sure that it will take less time to get done than I think, and I can even set up a system for getting this task done more regularly so things flow into my life quicker. I trust this is for my well being.

I feel so much freedom in trusting. If I truly listen to my heart, I know that I will have explored the best paths in life. Knowing that if I listen to the little, gentle whispers that tell me how to go with the flow, how to connect to spirit, how to do my very best through sharing the light in my heart I cannot go wrong. I cannot be lead astray because if something starts feeling wrong to me, I can always turn and go a different direction. I can always pivot. I can always choose a different path to follow. My heart is there to shine a light for me all along the way.

…if you have a fear of letting go, start getting a grip on your personality by talking to it and helping it through the experience. Talk to it like you would a child, saying, “Hello, little ego, I know you’re scared of letting go. I know you worry about me quitting this dumb job in case there isn’t another one. But, I’m eternal. I’m abundant. I’m infinite. I know there’s something better up ahead because my Infinite Self can feel it. So don’t worry, little guy. We’ll be just fine. -Stuart Wilde

My prayer and intention for you today is to start listening to your heart. Get quiet in meditation or a moment of silence. What is it trying to tell you? Take a silent walk in nature and calm your mind. What whispers do you hear?

What is your heart calling you towards?
