Letting Go & Trusting

Day 6: Letting go of the ego’s way and trusting your inner guide

Packing for this 100 day journey of 100 days exploring the book The Infinite Self by Stuart Wilde has been a process of letting go. I have had to unpack my ego in order to let in my inner self. I invite you along on this journey to learn together how to let go and trust reality, trust your inner spirit and trust life to carry you where you need to go.

Today is all about going beyond the ego, beyond the world as we have known it and to embrace the unknown. This is the perfect opportunity to do this, during a time of great uncertainty, to learn to let go. To trust our inner being to guide us to each new step on the path. To know that where we are headed is the best place for us at this present moment. To trust in something infinite within our very selves.

The ego is naturally resistant to letting go. It wants to hold on to its sense of power and to dominate your life and the lives of others. It needs to control because it feels insecure. So it may be frightening to let go, but in my view it is more frightening to stay where you are. -Stuart Wilde

I remember just over a month ago when I decided to let go of social media. My inner being knew it was the best step for me. It was a step that I needed to take to be able to go on this spiritual journey. However, my ego fought me along the way. It told me that I was letting people down, that I was not going to be able to do what I wanted to do, that I was making a mistake. I still get twinges of this from my ego from time to time. Being in the mind, thinking that let go of too much.

However, I am so very glad that I let go. I took a different path, away from so many, which can be frightening and lonely, but I had to take this path in order to grow.

Taking a different path than everyone else is the ultimate test of the spirit. Your mind and ego have a hard time letting go. It feels like you are being rejected by your tribe, that you will be alone, that you will be an outcast. The ego wants you to think that you have to hold on to all of the old constructs, that you are being a bad person by letting go of all that you thought you knew to be true. However, once you step onto the new path, your life can open up, if you trust.

In the world of the ego and the intellect, you don’t have to develop blind trust. You can hope to rely on past experience and thinking things out and, hopefully that works for you most of the time. But as a spiritual being, trust is vital. In the dynamic, exhilarating world of the Infinite Self, you’re flying blind. It has no limits, so it’s bound to carry you to unfamiliar ground-and that is what makes this process so fascinating. -Stuart Wilde

I have begun to take life one step on the path at a time. This book has guided me into a spiritual journey where sometimes I take a step back into my ego when I get frightened with uncertainty or bogged down with problems that rattle on in my mind, and so many more times now I am feeling such immense joy in my heart for embracing the unknown. That is what this reality is here to teach us. Life will go up and down, take us for a wild ride. We have to trust and take that path that may look scary at first, but it has so many more experiences to learn and grow from.

I love to travel, so although we are not traveling this year, I am traveling this path of the spirit, learning to let go, day by day. I travel the same path every day each early morning and each evening in my garden. However, that path is different in small ways each day. Yesterday I had the delight of seeing a beautiful hummingbird going from flower to flower, drinking the sweet nectar of my red freesia flowers. I was able to stand there in amazement, taking in the moment of beauty.

I feel as if I have traveled a lot further in my spirit this year then I could have traveled on a plane. I am on an amazing journey of discovery, of letting go. On this trip, my inner being will guide me. It will bring to me experiences that I could have never imagined. I will find connections I never would have dreamed of. I just have to trust.

My prayer and intention for you today is to trust in reality. Follow your inner guidance. Delight in something in nature. Listen to your spirit. Follow that you are always free!

How are you letting go and trusting today?
