Travelling Light Into the Night Armed Only With Photons and Poetry
GiaB prompt #15 illumination

Behold the glowing clouds Phosphorescent greens and blues All hues mesmerize, inspiring awe Heart and mind in accord, record as glow Vibrates, creates, rotates and swirls Pearls of iridescence, spectrum of the heavens
Shadows speak of possibility Nature’s ability While waves oscillate Short, long — a silent song Stretch and bend No end and no beginning
Day dimming now, mother moon Welcomes the evening shift Life-giving sun drifts away, creates another day The fading blaze reveals the Silhouettes of trees Sentries of the night
Breezes tease, delight the drifting clouds Hunkered round the moon Basking in her warm reflection Of departed rays ’til soon The novelty and fun Fade — and they move on
Luminescent stars encounter naked eyes Wise to ancient galaxies, light drives at 600-million miles an hour Cosmic power Spinning planets Opening hearts — another day to play again
Backstory
I seldom dream, or when I do, the memory often disappears from my waking mind. But that particular morning the vision remained long enough for me to jot down the first two lines of this poem. The rest followed later.
Light has always fascinated me. Although only a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is visible to the human eye, what we can see delights us. As does the mystery of the invisible.
“You must have shadow and light source both. Listen, and lay your head under the tree of awe.” — Rumi
