Summary

The web content reflects on the concept of illumination, drawing parallels between the natural light of the sun and moon and the historical art of illuminated manuscripts, while also acknowledging the evolution of storytelling through modern technology.

Abstract

The article titled "Illuminate the Way" meditates on the theme of illumination, both in a literal and metaphorical sense. It draws inspiration from the ancient art of illuminated manuscripts, suggesting that the sun and moon act as celestial scribes, narrating the passage of time and the beauty of life. The author, K. Barrett, muses on how these celestial bodies illuminate our world and our stories, much like the detailed illustrations in ancient texts. Despite the shift from traditional crafts to technology-driven methods of storytelling, the essence of illumination persists. The article also credits Victor Sarkin's "Genius in a Bottle" for the 'Illumination' writing prompt that sparked this contemplation, and it concludes by directing readers to additional stories by the author related to the sun and the moon.

Illuminate the Way

Sun and Moon — Night and Day| GiaB prompt #15 — illumination

Images-K.Barrett, author

Like pages from illuminated manuscripts narrating the days gone by the sun and the moon give light to night and day glimmers shimmering on leaves well laid bordering the trails along our way

We are scribes with quills elaborating as the pages fill illustrations attuned with words illuminated by the sun and the moon

Technology strewn tables displace a well-honed craft days of illuminated manuscripts have passed still, we creatively tell and sell our stories by the light of the sun and the moon

The details of lives so beautifully designed aglow from the sun and the moon illuminating all the glory, telling our story long after our better days have gone by

This concept of illuminated in terms of illuminated manuscripts was inspired by my fondness for this ancient craft. I also played on my curiosity about the stories the sun and the moon could tell. Both pictures were taken out the same window of my house.

Thank you to Victor Sarkin at Genius in a Bottle for setting the ‘Illumination’ writing prompt. You can read more about the guidelines for the prompt here.

Thanks for reading! Here is one more story I wrote about the sun and the moon.
