In Case You Missed It — 2022
TOP NINE Stories about Nudity and Nakedness by Other Authors — 2022
People other than myself share their thoughts about social nudity

I hope you find some new authors and fresh perspectives on social nudity and nude recreation.
This is DAY TWO of my self-imposed challenge to curate and redistribute a collection of my favorite stories published on MEDIUM over the course of the last year. Here’s the master list in the original post, just in case that slipped through your fingers…
Emulating the Instagram TOP NINE tradition, I led out yesterday with nine stories authored by me on the topic of social nudity. With that said and done, however, what I’ve found most inspiring since signing on with MEDIUM last summer is how many other people share their thoughts and ideals about nakedness on this platform as well.
Identifying just nine of those that feel definitive is a real challenge! In case your curiosity the matter is truly insatiable, you can click through to my ever-growing master list where I keep adding stories that I feel are making a substantive contribution to the narrative of normalizing nudity. Here’s that master list…
For the purpose of this particular story, I chose just nine of those curated above — a total of 121 stories at this writing. I’m only posting links to stories published in 2022, and I tried to maintain a gender balance in regard to authorship as well. I also looked for a variety of perspectives and topics.
It was a surprise to me that a lot more women are writing about nudity than men, at least on MEDIUM. I’ve already posted two curated lists of pieces by female authors, and will continue adding to that series as time goes on. I made a point not to duplicate any of those already mentioned in these earlier annotated lists…
So here we go!
TOP NINE!
May as well jump right into the deep end. James Grigg feels so strongly about social nudity and body positivity that he started his own publication called NUDE POSITIVE. Many of the stories you will find there are his, and this one makes a compelling case for the simple joy and honesty implicit in socializing in the altogether.
Similarly, accomplished author Cai Emmons states, “It was special to get naked with friends who weren’t sex partners and to feel truly unembarrassed by our imperfect bodies.” She speaks to how that sentiment has evolved over the course of her life.
Robert G. Longpré has joined MEDIUM this year. As an avowed naturist with a significant background in psychology and mental health, I find his work to be thoughtful and thought-provoking. In this case, the story is about his friend Joy, who is well known amidst the online naturist community. Interesting angle.
Naked bathing in the spring fed hot pools has long been an integral part of the Japanese tradition. Should you ever get to that part of the world, a visit to the onsen should most definitely be on your bucket list. Mary DeVries is a particularly eloquent writer who captures the true essence of the experience in vibrant detail. A wonderful read…
GB Dare has been prolific this past year with his stories about social nudity. His very direct writing style cuts right to the chase in providing valuable tips for your first visit to a nude beach, including what to expect and how to behave. A valuable resource especially for the dudes out there who may be a little nervous about the whole thing.
You get a twofer on this piece by Nicole Dake; first in the linked story about the spa culture in Europe, then an embedded link that goes into greater detail about her visit to Taunus Therme near Frankfurt. Nicole has a vast and varied profile on MEDIUM. It’s great that she has written about nudity as part of her narrative.
Barefoot Mike brings an interesting angle to the conversation. As the title implies, he makes a case for the inherent compatibility of naturism and minimalism. I haven’t quite figured out the not doing laundry thing as he describes, but it could be that he’s more adamant about living his clothes-free lifestyle every day. [I also found it humorous that this story on minimalism has no feature image!]
If you’re looking for a dose of candor and courage before checking out a nude spa in Europe, Just P.A.U.L.A has just what you need. She recounts a recent visit to Vabali in Berlin and provides a compelling rationale as to why you should do the same!
For the grand finale, I’m including this photo essay from freehiker Au Naturel. [He explains the concept of freehiking at the front of the story.] I once met this author and did a day’s hike with him. For a naked guy, he has the preparedness thing down to a tee.
If you made it all the way to and through this page, I hope you found some new authors and fresh perspectives on social nudity and nude recreation. I’ll keep watching the news feed. If I’m still on MEDIUM a year from now, I’ll look forward to making this an annual tradition.
And oh… don’t forget to check out yesterday’s list of my stuff. :)
Enjoy this story? Please take a moment to clap! You can clap up to 50 times, and each time you do that, it helps move naturist stories up the queue in the MEDIUM algorithm.
I write about naturism, travel, and other parts of the human experience simply for the joy of writing. Totally worth it. But every time somebody spends time reading one of my stories, I earn a few cents to help pay the overhead costs of being a blogger.
It’s only a few dollars a month to subscribe to Medium, which gives you access to thousands of authors and their work. And if you subscribe by clicking through the link below, I receive an incentive for that as well. Support naturism and thoughtful writing. Subscribe to MEDIUM… below…
