Top 10 Publications on Medium Which Support New Writers

I have just completed a month on Medium and thought to share my experience with publications that encourage and support new writers, and played an important role in my journey till now. This will be a short read, but I am sure you will find great value if you are a new writer on Medium.

Many of them may not be the top subscribed Publications on the Platform, but in my experience, what matters as a new writer is the momentum you can generate for yourself in the initial days and set in motion a consistent flow of followers who can relate to your writing.

Medium is a great platform on which you can get traction over the long run with enticing SEO-friendly articles which your audience can relate to even while self-publishing your posts. But I have realized that those claps, fans, highlights, and comments are all stimuli you need as a writer to consistently motivate yourself to write kickass stuff and that’s where Publications come into the picture.

Well, for me, it mattered, as I wouldn’t be on Medium if I just wanted to chat with myself; what say! 😉

Followers — 381K

They publish evidence-based Advice, and they expect you to write from substantial personal experience. According to them, that is at the core of producing a trustworthy article.

The Writing Cooperative is a community of people who help each other write better.

They have mentioned that they accept content related to — Essays exploring different writing career paths, Unique or creative editing and publishing tips, tools, and methods, Advice on developing ideas, In-depth explanations of different writing formats and styles, Unique language and grammar guides, First-person accounts of getting a book published, Interviews with experienced writers and Other creative pieces in which an audience of fellow writers can learn something new.

Curious is a self-improvement publication for those eager to find out what others have already figured out. They accept personal stories and research pieces basis the information mentioned in their publication.

They have been categorized into multiple segments to target relevant readers -ILLUMINATION, ILLUMINATION-Curated, Technology Hits, SYNERGY, Readers Hope, and ILLUMINATION Book Chapters on Medium. They also have a very active community on slack with 1300+ writers, so you will have all the support of peers and mentors you will need to succeed during your initial days. They accept submissions related to philosophy, Politics, Spirituality, Psychology, Self-improvement and similar topics. As per the above link, this publication is visited by more than 3000 unique visitors per day and averaging over 1.5lakh views a month. So head out there and get your voice across to the world using your writing. 😊

They publish stories about money, investing and the path to financial freedom. As per their publication page, you can write about almost anything but try to avoid topics on sex, drugs, murder, and politics unless the articles are insightful and beneficial for the readers. Instead, topics on positive things like health, fitness, food, love, self-improvement, poems, short stories and rainbows and sunshine. Just play nice, and you’ll have a good ride as a writer with this publication.

As per the above link, the publication currently reaches about 50,000 people a month with over 80,000 minutes of read-time between them. They accept a wide range of topics which you can check out on the link above.

They accept all stories except that they must not hurt others, especially in terms of race, religion, culture and politics. Do note that all submissions to Coffee Times are required to tag “Coffee Times Movement.”
