WALKING ROUTE 66
Took Another Day to Rest and Recuperate.
While replenishing the coffers.

Are you familiar with Couchsurfing? I had read about it a while back and became a member since I was living a nomadic life. They connect travelers with local people who are interested in learning about other places and cultures.
I was trying to reach people in the places I will be visiting, but since it was almost impossible for me to be exact about when I would reach a city a couple of weeks in advance, it was difficult to connect with anyone. However, I had connected with Don Mueller of Lincoln, and even though he wasn’t able to offer me a couch, he was interested in meeting for lunch.
I got a message from him while I was having breakfast at a restaurant called Daphne’s Family Restaurant. We decided to meet at CHI, for Chinese. It was across the street from where I was, right next to the laundromat I was heading for after breakfast.
I had a blast twisting balloons for kids of all ages, the patrons of Daphne’s. Someone paid for my breakfast and others tipped me for my balloons.
Don turned out to be an interesting man. We shared life stories with each other over sweet and pungent soup and fried rice. He is married to a lady from Malaysia and commutes to Bloomington for work. His house and four motorcycles are all paid for. He offered to take me for a spin on his Suzuki.
Afterward, I headed to the fairgrounds to twist more ballons and make some money. It wasn’t as profitable as the day before, but I got to meet the beautiful Little Miss Logan County. (can you see it, Margie Pearl)
As I reflect back, I realize that while the reason I decided to stay an extra day was to make some money, it was my higher self getting me to rest up some more.
