Tinder Date Gone Wrong: A Shocking Story of How a Woman Murdered Her Date

Greed, lust, and blood oozed on that fateful day

Dushyant Sharma lived a straightforward life. He was moderately built and employed in a mining company, as one of its project manager. His life, along with his wife and son, was smooth flowing like a quiet river. No frills, no fancies.

But deep inside, the 26-year-old Sharma’s carnal instincts were brewing. Three years down his married life, the novelty and passion he once felt in the relationship had dried up. The man was searching for new pastures.

Somewhere in that period, Sharma stumbled across the fancy world of Tinder. Through his Facebook page, he was already projecting a fun, stylish, freak persona, in stark contrast with his mundane daily routine. And on Tinder, he was now at liberty to extend his alter ego further.

So, while signing up for the matchmaking app, he pitched himself as a wealthy businessman named Vivan Kohli, with assets running into millions. Not too late, he had found his match: Priya Seth.

The doomed match

The 27-year-old Priya Seth and Dushyant, aka Vivan, were now in a relationship. While Dushyant thought his made-up asset was a fool-proof pickup feature, Priya pretended to be the embodiment of spiritual romance, who ‘loved him for who he was and not his fat purse’.

In reality, Priya’s double life was beyond Sharma’s wildest imagination.

She had been a professional bluff master for years, luring rich men into sexual relationships and extorting money from them by threatening. The magnitude of her disguise indeed dwarfed Sharma’s testosterone-charged Tinder avatar.

Priya’s modus operandi was effective. She targeted rich men, got them in compromising or dreadful situations, where they would happily pay a hefty sum to let themselves go. Being rich, money was something they would rather easily part with.

The other ploy was to pretend to be a call girl and get her payment in advance. She would then take her customers over to a hotel room and ask them to excuse a 2-minute absence to ‘pay her driver’. Before the guys figured the deceit, Priya cleared the scene.

Fearing public shame, the targets remained tight-lipped about their mistake as Priya siphoned rich dividends.

For the first time, though, Priya had made an error in judgement. Her new victim was a man who worked his ass off to meet both ends- the financially struggling Dushyant Sharma. She couldn’t have milked him too much for money.

You know what happens when both parties lie in a relationship? It’s set to be doomed.

The trap is set

Somewhere amid Priya’s lust games, she had found a man for herself. Dikshant Kamra, a 21-year-old failed model with huge debts, was Priya’s love and partner in crime. The money amassed from the Dushyant Sharma job was supposed to pay off a part of Kamra’s debt.

Finally, the day of Dushyant’s romantic ‘fulfilment’ arrived. As Priya, Dikshant and their friend Lakshya Wallia set the trap, elsewhere, Sharma felt restless and desperate to reach Priya. After a busy day of work, he had come to his home but left soon, feigning a work-related excuse.

Thus, on May 2, 2018, at 7 PM, Sharma left his home in his father’s Suzuki hatchback. He picked up a bottle of wine en route and rushed to Priya’s residence. He was greeted by a gleeful Priya, who asked him to make himself comfortable at home.

Then, Mr Dushyant Sharma received the shock of his life in the form of two well built, menacing, young men: Dikshant Kamra and Lakshya Wallia. They instantly pounced upon a bewildered and petrified Sharma, who was taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.

Sharma assumed them to be intruders who held Priya captive, but Priya soon appeared dispelling any such notion. The lusty imaginations that ruled his brain only a moment ago had given way to a harsh realization: the trio, including Priya, are a team.

Who cheated whom?

“We won’t kill you. Just give us ten lakhs(approximately 13400 USD) and we will let you go”, said Priya, just as she had done countless times in her life.

“I don’t have money”, replied Sharma in his trembling voice. Nobody saw the odds of the rich Vivan Kohli being a middle-class Dushyant Sharma, as they thought he was a miser trying to save some pennies.

But his documents- his driving license and Aadhar card soon revealed the truth.

Priya and co realized that the bluff happened at both ends. She learned that Vivan Kohli was indeed the poor Dushyant Sharma, and he did not possess a pile of money but a wife and a son.

To make matters worse, he was a local and not from another city. Letting him go would perhaps jeopardize their business. Sharma was truly a liability now.

Priya made Sharma dial his father and ask for ten lakhs. ‘Ten lakhs or your son is dead”, warned Priya in a stern voice. The amount was beyond his father, but he promised to dispatch three lakhs immediately. He soon made a wire transfer and even sent the transfer receipt to Dushyant’s whatsapp.

But three lakhs was not going to suffice for Priya. She wanted seven more lakhs.

Sharma promised to find the rest of the money from his different friends. He started calling them one by one, and each of them responded with the amount they could arrange. But it would take time, and Dushyant’s promise of returning with the money after collecting it from friends made no sense to Priya.

She believed that if Dushyant was allowed to leave, he would return with the police.

“We have to kill him”, she said.

Dushyant Sharma pays for his sins

Priya figured that a man dishonest to his family could not be trusted. Lakshya and Dikshant abided by the words of their leader, and they started choking Mr Sharma.

Sharma managed to put up a fight but soon fell unconscious. Dikshant completed the act by slitting Dushyant’s throat. The dead body was eventually chopped into pieces and stacked into a suitcase. The whole room had turned red with blood.

Thus, Sharma, who had packed several packets of condoms for some action, ended up getting crammed into a suitcase and thrown into a deserted area.

The trio returned to their room, and Priya left for her new assignment, unfazed by the turn of events. This was her ‘escort service’ drama, and as usual, she met a man at a hotel, asked him to wait till she paid the driver, and left the scene.

Enter Police

By the time Priya returned, Dikshant had tidied up the mess in the room. He had also made a fake number plate for Dushyant’s Suzuki hatch, and the couple decided to flee.

On the way, Priya stopped by an ATM and removed a sum from Sharma’s bank account. They had already extracted the ATM pin from him.

Priya has had several instances of successful bluffs in her life, and it was only once that there was an official complaint raised against her. This was a man from whom she took Rs 10,000 by posing as a call girl. As usual, Priya tried to vanish, but the man had chased her and framed her for cheating. Priya evaded the charges by accusing the man of rape.

Before or after that incident, Priya never had to encounter opposition. A sense of audacity and fearlessness had dominated her behaviour. She didn’t expect the script to change this time.

But Dushyant’s family had already informed the police. The investigative officers traced Dushyant’s call log and called every one of his friends he had called. They all had the same story to narrate: Dushyant called them a while back and asked for some money.

The turning point

One of those friends reported that Dushyant might have been involved with a woman from a particular colony. It was about this time that Priya had withdrawn money from Dushyant’s bank account. That ATM, too, was located in the same colony.

Elsewhere Dushyant’s body was spotted. There was nothing left in the body to recognize the victim, but since the face was not mutilated, his father identified the body.

It did not take much time before Priya Seth and Dikshant were arrested. The accomplice Lakshya too, was captured. The trio admitted to killing Dushyant.

The Priya backstory

Priya was born to a respectable middle-class family in a small village. She was a brilliant student with top marks and a bag of achievements in her school life. Her father, a college professor, recalls that Priya was also a stubborn child.

Once she was fixated on something, she was not the kind to let it go. Priya’s migration to the bigger city of Jaipur to attend college changed her destiny. She was thrust into the middle of a glamorous city from a humble village, where she felt like a pendulum clock stuck in the digital age.

What her father sent, Rs 20,000, was not sufficient for even the trinkets she desired.

Priya chased her ambition, got into the wrong line of job. She had connections with pimps and started recruiting college girls for escort services. Not too late, she started her own business. And this was the drama where she turned up at the hotel and vanished.

Priya had several expensive possessions in her collection and the total worth of her extorted money in the five years of her malpractice amounted to approximately Rs 1.75 crores!(approximately 2,34,800 USD)

All three culprits are currently serving a sentence. Dushyant’s family is still mourning his loss. Nothing in his behaviour even remotely suggested that he might be living a double life, and the family still refuses to believe it.

And in the dying moments, Dushyant might have remembered the faces of everyone in that family.
