ARC OF THE IMMORTALS Book 2
Time Rifts 43 — Too Many, Too Much
Time Orbs Collide and Threaten Chaos

Recap — TR-42/Distorted Time: Suke’s student Maia invites Suke, Touzdae, and Jac to see what she has discovered: time bubbles. She warns that the Mu will be lost if they don’t leave very soon. Jac sends Tommalar two messages telepathically:
Move the ship away from the tugs by thrusters only and prepare to go to hyperspace at factor one in twenty minutes, no later.
The time inside each bubble is moving at a different rate.
The beleaguered tug with the Griz Ack fragments inched backward from its position. The escort tech was removed from the bubble where his team appeared not to move. The tug captain sends his second mate to assist the stranded tech.
Jac jumps to Tommalar to update him on developments. Jac prepares to jump to Touzdae and Maia’s location at Phorae’s position.
Two Gypsins activate the Lingam Egg and pull Jac to their position.
Current Episode:
“In answer to your previous question, I am not a god,” Jac told the two Gypsins.
“You have god-like powers, though. Do not deny this,” Rasis stated.
“First, the powers are not mine. There is the context of the Arc that concentrates abilities that are in flow. Without the Arc it’s highly unlikely these powers would be available to me,” Jac said impatient and added:
“Why have you brought me here, What do you want?” Jac was irritable.
“An exchange?”
“I’m listening…”
“That’s simple enough and a bit complex too,” Touzdae said as she donned the goggles. Maia and Touzdae transported to the seer’s lounge. Geordae Phorae appeared a second later. Touzdae and Maia had transported him.
Twenty-four children from the fragmented time rifts ran through the seer’s main healing center. They were chanting. Suke could not make out the message. It blurred together:
“Mapha-Mapha-Mapha-Mapha-Mapha-Mapha…” with a crescendo of sounds.
They dropped off odd pieces of equipment coated with a magnetic film of some kind.
Touzdae, Jac, Maia, I need you, Suke sent the thought.
There were three more waves of twenty-four children. Each dropped off hand-carried equipment treated in some way.
Touzdae and Maia, minus Jac, arrived at the healing center. Suke was on the opposite side of the chamber.
“I think that’s a fair exchange,” Jac told Rasis, the Gypsin.
“You do know that the Arc is collapsing,” Rasis told Jac.
“Dissipating,” Orus corrected.
“Both,” Rasis snarked with sarcasm.
“I was vaguely aware and now I am certain, thanks,” Jac said. He added, “May I take my leave of you?”
“Only if you give your word,” Rasis stated.
“Yes, I will, contingent on the demonstration,” Jac added.
“You insult me. I, as a High Gypsin, am my word. Are you sir?”
“I live by my word,” Jac said without artifice.
“Go then,” Rasis announced.
Jac jumped.
“What are these things?” Touzdae asked.
“I tried to read them, but it was too much.”
Ten minutes to hyperspace jump, deadline permitting, Tommalar’s thought came to Touzdae.
Jac jumped to the Needlecraft. He was there for two seconds. His Elite-Exo Suit activated with helmet fitted . He jumped again and materialized in the starboard hanger tube. It was packed with ships of every size and shape. There were two Time Hoppers there from the Obz station. He jumped to the bridge for one trillionth of a nanosecond, undetectable to the naked eye.
“Where’s Jac?” Touzdae wondered with an indignant attitude.
Jac was jumped to Touzdae’s side where his suit disassembled.
“Where did you go?”
“It was not my decision to separate from you. What’s all this stuff?” Keyboards and console parts each coated with materials unknown surrounded the three.
“Focus, you twos,” Maia said referring to Jac and Touzdae.
“What’s that sound? Like a chant or a song?” Jac wondered aloud.
“Wait for it,” Touzdae said.
Fapha-pa-pa-pa…” it repeated when the hooded children streamed in — dumping more parts. It alternated with “Mapaa, Mapaa, Mapaa, pa-pa-pop…”
A sphere of stillness formed between Touzdae and Jac.
They are Po and Majicoloure, our children, Touzdae and Jac’s thoughts combined as one.
Include the stuff, Jac shouted the thought.
The eleven duplicates of Po and the eleven of Majicoloure popped out of existence. The two originals faded out.
The stuff remained. The piles were so high the healers and seers could not see Touzdae, Jac, or Maia.
“Engage Hyperspace Drive factor one,” Tommalar ordered.
“Aye sir,” the Helms tema* said.
“Ten parsecs,” Tommalar reiterated.
What is all this material for? Suke sent the question to Touzdae and Jac.
To get out of the trap, Touzdae/Jac thought as one to Suke and Maia.
“Oh, My Spirits!” Suke shouted.
Suke saw it all. They were dragging the time bubbles/spheres with them in space. When they stopped the ship everyone on board would be overcome with the time spheres. Seers and Phorae gathered with goggles in one of the observation lounges. They saw the millions of time bubbles trailing the ship. Suke conveyed the pictures to Jac, Touzdae, Maia, the seer group, and the bridge crew.
“All stop,” Tommalar gave the command. The Helms tema* dropped them out of hyperspace.
* tema — is a non-binary Estonian pro-noun.
