ARC OF THE IMMORTALS Book 2

Time Rifts 42 — Distorted Time(s)

Collapse of the 3rd Dimension within the Arc

Recap TR41/ All Stop: Tau, an Entu Monk and expert on environments accompanies a Tech-Team to a Space Tug. They bring Griz Ack fragments in their original frozen spaces to the tug with a Micro Nuke. An escort tech tells Tau that the use of the Micro Nuke will be used as a last resort implying a disaster with the Griz Ack fragments.

Jac and Touzdae are on break. They sleep for 28 hours, eat, make love, and make love in a Tantric fashion becoming one. Jac is pulled out of his body into a vision and Touzdae follows. They send telepathic pictures to Suke and verbal support to Captain Tommalar.

Touzdae wants Jac to promise to return and next with her after all this is over. Jac promises. They cuddle.

Per Jac’s vision work switches from FTL drive repair to Hyperspace Drive repair./ Tommalar is uncharacteristically irritated about launching probes/Jac feels irritated too.

Touzdae explains Jac’s irritation with the vision of the Griz Ack Ships being trapped in a temporary 3rd dimension within the arc. According to the vision, the dimension is collapsing and Griz Ack ships are being destroyed.

Meanwhile, Tau sees something outside the tug, assaults his escort, and escapes the tug through an airlock. He is without a helmet. He disappears.

Current Episode:

Jac and Touzdae joined Suke and one of Suke’s most promising students Maia at the Seer’s Observation Portal.

Suke’s student, Maia stood looking outside in space, past the tug. She turned alarm on her face, flashing a thought to the three of them.

“Bubbles?” Jac said aloud.

Time bubbles, Touzdae sent the thought back to Jac, Suke, and Maia.

“Exactly,” Maia said with a quiet voice. “And leave in 20, 30 minutes or Mu lost.”

“Come, I show you,” she said to Suke, Touzdae, and Jac. They joined Maia’s visions in real-time.

There were at least a hundred larger bubbles, big enough to consume the tug. Hundreds more to swallow a person or two. And hundreds more smaller than a humanoid, and hundreds more… They were moving inch by inch. — Spreading out.

The space tug crept backward on thrusters. Part of the bow on the port side was gone. The three viewers couldn’t see that side of the tug in the vision.

The time in each bubble is operating at different rates than normal time. At different rates to each other. This will bring chaos if we don’t stop it or move away. Jac sent the thought out to the other three. And he sent two thoughts to the captain —

Move the ship, thrusters only away from the tugs. Prepare to go to hyperspace within the arc in fifteen to twenty minutes at factor one.

Captain Tommalar acknowledged the message. He took action.

As the Mu gained momentum it moved away from the compromised tug and the second tug. The beleaguered tug seemed to be in a struggle with itself.

The captain of the tug edged the small ship backward. The time bubble co-opting the tug was the section where the two Griz Ack fragments were held. The tech team was also there. The escort tech was not with the team. He had been watching Tau before Tau disappeared outside the ship. He was in a position to see the rest of the team and communicate with the bridge. Unfortunately, his concentration was intently focused on the observational instruments.

The captain was aware that something was wrong. He could not see the time bubble via line-of-sight or through instruments. Internal and external sensors were down. The bubble and its effects, below the line of sight, were obscured.

The escort tech had been highly anxious before Tau left the tug. Tau’s attack left him unconscious for a time. And in shock. When the tech came to his palms were sweating and he had heart palpitations. He put his helmet on to feel safe. He couldn’t understand why the readings of the Griz Ack fragments appeared normal. But the team appeared not to move.

He used the comlink to communicate with the lead tech-soldier — Lieutenant Commander Joz. There was no response. He opened communications to the bridge.

“Odd occurrences here, Captain,” the tech said on edge. “I need help.”

“I’m sending my second mate to assist.”

Jac jumped to the bridge and appeared in a flash next to the captain.

Tommalar jumped — startled.

“Sorry. This is urgent,” Jac said. “Touzdae and Suke’s prize student have jumped to Phorae. They will help him design a device to see the bubbles. Both the tugs are compromised with time bubbles. Under no circumstances can they be allowed back into the hangar bays.”

“Do we arm the micro nukes and blow them up?” Tommalar asked.

“Absolutely not. Under no circumstances.”

“Because that would cause proliferation of the time bubbles. Yes?”

“Exactly,” Jac paused. “Touzdae needs me with Maia and Phorae. Suke will join you with some of her team to help navigate through the bubbles.”

Jac jumped.

Two Gypsins gathered around the Lingam Egg at the bottom of the sphere. Each had almond-shaped heads adorned with colorful garments.

The Tall One, Rasis beamed thoughts to the other:

Bring him here.

Jac Kritos? Orus via thought.

Yes.

The Lingam Egg pulsed light and Jac appeared.

Tau — is an Entu Monk who appeared at the beginning of the story as the Monk who had gone crazy at the Obz Time Rift Station. He later rescued the duplicate Touzdae (or Touzdae-2). She was being held for having stabbed Jac in the chest. Later he escorted her to the Central Astrocartography Sphere to do battle with Jac.
