Time Rifts 39 — Showdown

The Beginning of The End

[scenes of violence and a body memory of a previous attack]

Recap: TR38 Plans and Snags: The crew assumes that Jax Kristos has transformed into a reptoid. It was later confirmed by a camera recording of him running fast as a Griz Ack reptoid. The captain assumes that the fourth human cannot be saved, nor can the other humanoids transforming. He orders the 5-chamber unit to be ejected from the ship and destroyed after they jump.

The captain orders exo-suits for all on the ship. Infection detectors are not operating within 100 feet of the locked chambers.

They prepare a one-minute jump and execute it. Post-jump, Captain Tommalar asks about reptoids, Nukes, and whether the ejected chambers were destroyed. Answers came — No on reptoids, No on Nukes, and yes — chambers destroyed.

Suke relays an elaborate plan for escaping the reptoids without violence. The captain approves — and is set in motion.

Geordae invents and tests a “weapon” that freezes the material of the Griz Ack suit and induces hibernation in theory.

A part of Suke’s team is reconfiguring the holos of the essential bridge crew to be humans.

Touzdae reviews what she understands as the plan with Tommalar. With little time left the captain asks Touzdae to trust the plan. Just as the molecular transporter is activated to transport Touzdae the power ship wide goes out. Touzdae vanishes in the 15 seconds it takes for auxiliary power to kick in.

The Entu monk, Tau, leads Duplicate Touzdae toward the center of the ship where Jac is.

Current episode: Jac stood in a small sphere — one of the three astrocartography navigation centers. This one — at the center of the ship. Touzdae strode in.

“You’re not the real Touzdae,” Jac said. He waved his arms and created rings of light around them. The rings formed into interconnected spheres. The both of them remained contained. He activated his enhanced exo-suit for protection. A body memory of where she stabbed him formed on his skin and in his chest.

The real Touzdae popped in under her own power at the outside edge of the astrocartography sphere.

“So Jac is in his suit and in a time suspension zone,” she said aloud. She put her intent to be at Jac’s side and intended to locate there. Touzdae #1 was deflected to the other side of the interconnected light spheres. She tried two more times with similar results.

Jac, let me in. I’m here outside your light spheres, she sent the thought to him.

A minute later she received his thought. Give me a second or two. I’m going to try something.

Two minutes later another thought came in for her — I am sending you a light sphere on the end of a light tunnel. It’s keyed to your frequency. Step into it.

Inside the light spheres with Jac on one side and Touzdae-2 fixed on the opposite side, she made her move.

Jac formed another sphere big enough to contain Touzdae-1. He connected the sphere to a light tunnel and pushed it toward his Touzdae. I’m in, she thought back to him.

She bathed in the light sphere and walked back into through the light tunnel absorbing it as she went.

Touzdae-2 released a piercing sound from her gut. It cut through the light. She sent a second piercing sound at a higher frequency. The faceplate of his helmet shattered. Half of the glass pieces flew out and half flew in.

Suke sent the message to flip the ship to both Jac and Touzdae in five minutes. Remember to release your mag boots.

The Griz Ack descended through the escape hatches above. They landed on the bridge. Reypat and Tommalar fired at them with the new weapons. Three of the six Griz Acks immobilized by the beam, three others fought. Two of three slashed Reypat and Tommalar in half.

Reypat stepped out of the holo chamber followed by the captain.

“Report,” Tommalar barked.

“We will be moving through the boundary in 45 seconds,” the Chef Tech responded.

Suke, time to flip, Tommalar sent the thought to her. It was just as he was trained by her.

Healing gel released onto Jac’s face. A new face shield regrew over the old one in the helmet.

I’m here, Jac.

I can’t see with this gel. It’s releasing the pain, he paused. I can feel your light.

How do we start?

He streamed images to her.

Okay, got it.

He whirled one arm backward and one forward. All the interconnected light spheres collapsed. The light streamed around Touzdae-2 fixing her to that spot. With Jac’s intentional force her physical voluntary actions: suspended.

Jac released his smart mag boots. Touzdae tuned into the images. She took the light and spun it without moving her arms.

Jac saw Touzdae-2 through his third eye. He ran toward her. Fast. He shoved her back with force — from three feet away. It was by his intent alone. Her body passed through the membrane into the lab of Docktor Vishkoff Malley on Mu-2. The force directed toward her produced an opposite reaction. He was forced to his spot near Touzdae-1.

Jac absorbed the kickback from the spin. His body quaked and quivered three times and stopped.

The ship flipped over as the bridge flew into Dimension Two. Inside a communication beam defense instructions were sent to Mu-2. Encoded instructions for Mu-2 to detonate the bridge and plans for the freeze ray: included.

Tommalar and the four officers from the primary crew were safe and not infected. They emerged from the holo platform and entered the second bridge on the ventral side of the ship. It was in the center between the two fuselages and below the centrifuge or fuge.

“Status?” Tommalar barked.

“We have thrusters,” one tech reported.

“Power is still down. Auxiliary power to the FTL is down.” Another tech reported.

“We can’t jump!” Reypat was frantic and angry.

“Transport portable power packs and generators for the FTL.” Tommalar ordered

The Mu-2 moved closer to the widening membrane between dimensions.

One assault Griz Ack battle-cruiser obscured by gas clouds blasted down toward them.

“Battle stations! Code Red!” Tommalar shouted.

“Portable Power-Packs and Generators preparing for transport to the FTL,” Reypat reported.

Touzdae and Jac were exchanging streams of telepathic images. The rich images, filled with emotion, logic, and strategies were part of the stream.

Don’t ever forget the Golden Arc enhances and accelerates everything. Hannah built a brilliant arc. Tu Mai’s dynamic 4 and 5th dimensional images and verbal thoughts streamed from the download to Jac.

Railguns and one of the new cold lasers fired on the rapidly descending ship.

“Train the cold laser on thrusters,” Tommalar ordered.

A Light bubble began to form around Jac and Touzdae. They focused on a massive amount of images flowing between them.

They didn’t notice circular spirals emanating through the walls. The spirals ended a few feet from the light bubble. There were nine of them. The bubble around them was saturated with golden light. Soldiers appeared through the circular spirals into the space. The Duplicate Touzdae was ejected with force out of the tube. Her body flew over Jac and Touzdae in the light bubble to the opposite side of the sphere. The duplicate collided into the wall.

The Mu 1 jumped.
