Summary

In "Arc of the Immortals Book 2: Time Rifts 40 — Breakdown," Jac and Touzdae navigate a series of life-threatening events, including a time-suspension zone, an unexpected ship jump, and an encounter with hostile Griz Acks, ultimately saving the ship and its passengers through their combined abilities and a strategic algorithm.

Abstract

The narrative unfolds with Jac and Touzdae facing off against Touzdae-2 in the Astrocartography Sphere, where Jac experiences a phantom pain from a previous injury inflicted by his adversary. As the story progresses, Touzdae-1 joins the fray, and together they fend off attacks while the ship faces its own dangers. An unforeseen faster-than-light (FTL) jump occurs, causing temporal displacement and injuries to a portion of the ship's inhabitants. Post-jump, Jac and Touzdae are instrumental in stabilizing the situation, with Jac's algorithm creating time-light cocoons to protect the biological beings on board. The ship, having traveled across galaxies, is left with a number of mysteries to solve, including the presence of Griz Acks

Recap TR39 Showdown: While Jac is in the centermost Astrocartography Sphere, Touzdae-2 strides in. He recognizes her immediately as the imposter erects light spheres and deploys his Enhanced Exo-suit (E-E Suit).

Jac experiences a body memory in his chest. It was from his recent stab wound at the hand of Touzdae-2.

Touzdae #1 arrives at the sphere under her own power by location/jumping. She remarks aloud that Jac is in a time-suspension zone. Jac sends Touzdae-1 a light sphere and tunnel to allow her to come to him. She does and absorbs the light of the tunnel as she passes.

Touzdae-2 attacks Jac via sound, cut through the light and exploding the glass shield of his E-E Suit.

Suke sends a thought — a five minute warning to flip the ship. Meanwhile 6 Griz Acks attack the holo-officers on the bridge. Three Griz-Acks are immobilized by the freeze laser and the other three cut Reypat and Tommalar in half. The bridge officers emerge out of the holo chamber on the second bridge intact and infection free.

Tommalar telepaths flip the ship to Suke and Suke to Jac. Jac streams Tu Mai’s download to Touzdae-1. He collapses the light spheres. He uses the remaining light to fix Touzdae-2 to her spot. He can’t see due to the healing gel in his eyes. He uses his 3rd eye to force Touzdae-2 through membrane to the 2nd dimension and into Docktor Vishkoff Malley’s lab on Mu-2.

Eight soldiers and Touzdae-2 enter from Mu-2 from the alt reality. Touzdae-2 flies across the sphere into its far side and is knocked out.

Touzdae flips the ship and Jac absorbs the kick back. It ends quickly. The main bridge is ejected from Mu-1.

Mu-1 ship jumps.

Current Episode: Seconds before the jump Jac created an algorithm. It suspended all on-board biological beings in time-light cocoons*. The jump came without warning.

Post jump — Touzdae-1 was leaning over Jac. She checked his pulse.

“You can’t die,” she yelled at him. “I won’t let you. It’s not your time.”

She put her hands on his chest and discharged a massive amount of golden light into him. Exhausted and dizzy, she collapsed on top of him — unconscious.

The light spirals dissipated around ninety-five percent of the beings on board.

“Status?” Tommalar shouted.

“We, we, jumped but the FTL was not used,” Reypat said.

“Where are we?”

“Near to the Milky Way Galaxy,” the Assistant Chief Navigation Officer Makeiwah spoke.

“Time, jumped?” Captain Tommalar was in shock and amazement.

“Nine hours,” Makeiwah stated.

The jump lasted nine hours and stopped short. It created a severe whiplash. Ten percent or a little under five thousand beings: displaced. And thrown out of their time-light cocoons. Many injured, none seriously, and no one died (except those that did not register on sensors*).

Suke re-located/jumped on her own to the security scanners on Bridge Beta. The security personnel let her through.

“Sir, Touzdae and Jac are in trouble from interlopers from Mu-2. They came on-board before the jump,” she said.

“Dispatch our best troops to the Central Astrocartography Sphere,” Tommalar ordered.

The eight Mu-2 soldiers gathered around where Touzadae and Jac should have been. They were agog, unable or unwilling to fire into the blur that once may have been them. The twelve elite soldiers captured the eight soldiers from the Mu-2 and disarmed them without incident.

Monitors from the military and a member of the healing team monitored the blur for six hours. Around that time the blurred movement slowed. Observers recognized Jac and Touzdae. When they stopped moving, vital signs — the first order of field med-techs.

The Med-Support unit moved them to the nearest healing center.

Reypat dispatched repair teams throughout the ship. A few areas of the ship were frozen — meaning passageways and chambers. Military teams in EE-Suits explored the frozen areas. They discovered Five Griz Acks. They appeared lifeless. The Captain ordered a stay-in-place order for all passengers. Soldiers in EE-Suits made visual searches for Griz Acks throughout the ship. The five did not appear on any sensors or scanners.

Engineering personnel were dispatched to work on power systems. Flight engineers looked into the jump FTL drive.

Touzdae and Jac were sleeping on makeshift cots due to the amount of injuries. They opened their eyes at the same time and looked at each other.

“Thanks for saving my life,” Jac told Touzdae.

“You saved us all,” She said back. “You never cease to amaze me.”

“We did it together along with Tu Mai and the download.”

“I love you,” she told Jac.

“Yes, same,” he said, drifting off.

A moment later her eyes closed too.

A team found three more Griz Acks. Two of those three were in pieces. Tommalar ordered research on the immobile Griz Acks. Suke felt that the armor that covered their bodies, heads, and some kind of eyes beneath were part of their skin. She advised they keep them at or below their current temperatures at freezing.

Tommalar assembled a team. A consensus reached: transport them outside the ship for study. Special chambers aboard Tug-Service ships were designed and built fast.

When Jac and Touzdae were closer to a semblance of functioning a meeting was called. Tommalar, Reypat, Counselor Boygo, and Suke met with them in “the privacy structure” at the healing center. A team erected one around their cots.

“Let me save you the trouble of asking,” Jac said. “Yes I started the jump and Touzdae joined. We jumped the ship. We’re not super-beings. The nature of the arc has concentrated our energies. The download and channeled instruction from my spiritual father Tu Mai made it possible for the jump to happen.”

Jac stopped, clearly tired from the effort.

“How far did we travel?” Touzdae asked.

“Over the entire Reptoid Galaxy and almost to the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy. Earth is a little more than a third left to go.” Assistant Chief Navigation Officer Makeiwah was speaking in approximates.

“We’ll speak more when the both of you are fully rested,” Tommalar said. All left save Suke.

“We plan on transferring you to your quarters in 24 hours,” Suke determined. “Assuming your recovery stays on-track.”

“Thank you, Suke,” Touzdae said.

Jac smiled weakly. Suke left. The “privacy structure,” was left intact.

“Ou-ro-bor-os,” Jac whispered to her and fell asleep.

“What, Jac? What?” she asked back. She followed him into sleep.

* Jac’s algorithm put spinning light-spiraled cocoons around all beings on the ship. The ship’s sensors detected the bio signs of all life on board. Since the Griz Ack emit no biological signs they were excluded. Those included were all humanoid and other alien life, pets, and all plant life aboard.
