Time Rifts 34- Touzdae — Gone?

Efforts to find her have failed…

Recap: TR33-Lost Inside 12 Minutes: Touzdae escapes the forcefield as the Mu folds space. As the ship jumps, Touzdae jumps away. She travels the Mu in a stretched spacetime. She sees Shisla and Barua in the past. An enlightened being meets her with whom she recognizes and discovers his name — Tu Mai. (See TR2: Time Streamers — Touzdae for more about Tu Mai.)

Jac is in stillness slowly reconnecting to the multiverse and surrounded by three Gypsums. They want something from him, he doesn’t know what.

Mu one completes the 12-minute jump and recoils. Touzdae passes through membranes and crashes into a bulkhead in Jax Kristos suite. Jax is Jac’s cousin and resembles Jac’s physical features. He takes her to his bed and does healing work on her. The Gypsums return Jac to the healer’s bay unharmed.

Current Episode:

Six Weeks Later

Jac was discouraged. He followed many leads. They all ended in futility. He found himself drawn to the other Touzdae — the duplicate that had stabbed him in the chest.

“She is beyond rehabilitation,” Tommalar stated. “She either can’t remember stabbing you, she’s denying it, or its been erased somehow. As long as she does not admit the deed we cannot help her. So, she is dangerous.”

“So she stays in the safety enclosure until further notice. Does that mean I’m not permitted to communicate with her?” Jac asked.

Tommalar directed him to his Chief of Security, Te-oh Emmons, or CS for short.

The “safety enclosure” was a small living quarters with a food delivery system and waste removal molecular transporter. A de-programming module occupied 40% of the space. Suke and her team of healers put up a triple blind barrier for telepathic messages in or out. She wasn’t allowed visitors or anyone except de-programming specialists with two anti-psi agents. Jac’s “visit” was the exception.

Tommalar, Phorae, the COS, and the Navigators assembled to discuss their position, problems with the FTL, and the next move. The ship, situated outside the middle galaxy, on the way towards the next galaxy and Terra — Earth. Besides the FTL overheating. The FTL’s interior chamber warped and there was the other thing.

“What other thing?” Phorae asked.

“The Reptoids. I’d like to avoid them all together this time.”

Later the Captain described their encounter with the Reptoids to Phorae. We lost of a third of the crew in the three skirmishes. We have cloaked Reptoid sleeper agents somewhere on board.

“And there is the matter of the five individuals including one Antarian who were attacked. A forward commando squad of Reptoids infected five individuals. They remain in a sequestered section of the ship. That’s enough for today. I need some sleep before this starts all over again tomorrow,” Tommalar concluded.

“I understand,” Phorae said.

Simm was promoted to Adjutant Commander and could hand-pick and train a team. She gave Jac his own suit and addressed all 24 functions. She briefed him on all protocols for visiting captured persons. And she escorted him to the security detail guarding the other Touzdae.

Jax brought Touzdae back from the first layer of the death process three times. He endeavored to keep her vital signs stable. During the first week after she arrived he worked without sleep to save her. She had the sickness or spacetime benz as known. The spacetime benz occurred only aboard ships equipped with Faster-Than-Light drives.

“So, as I understand it, I can only see this version of Touzdae — or Subject B. And only via a flat-screen monitor, right?”

The two anti-psi agents and the supervisor nodded “Yes.”

“Tell me again why I can’t see her face to face without any meditating devices. This feels like a fear-based response,” Jac said.

They continued to toe-the-line of fear-based security. Jac pushed against their immovable wall without any progress. He finally agreed to their terms.

“Where’s my Jac,” Touzdae awakened from her groggy state.

“You don’t recognize me as your Jax, do you?” Jax asked her as she fell back into a death spiral. “No,” he said to her as she spiraled down. He lost her vitals. She was dead again. He worked through his sleep cycle to bring her back. Her heartbeat and breath returned. He fell to sleep and was pulled into Touzdae’s dreamtime.

Why are you keeping me here? Why don’t you return me to the healing team? She pushed into him, feeling his extreme conflict. I don’t understand.

If I open the door, sealed and locked from the outside the transformation will begin again. I would gladly give you to the team. If I do I not only condemn myself to a horrible death, but I put the entire ship at risk. Especially now as the Gris-Ack are close.

Who is the Gris-Ack?

You may know them as a species of advanced reptilians. The Gris-Acks are a particularly advanced genetically modified warrior class known for their extreme violence. I was attacked and infected when they boarded the Mu during our voyage within the arc. The first time around.

Okay, but I see you have a chamber that can restore me to health. Why are you not using it? Touzdae sent her thought to him.

That’s true. But Gris-Ack eggs are attached inside the pressurized chamber and frozen in cryonics within that space. It’s too dangerous to open it. You would be infected like me and I would transform. Jax surrendered his thoughts to her and opened himself so she could see everything.

But she turned away. She went deep into herself thinking — There must be some kind of way out of here. She called out to the multiverse, to Jac, to their unborn children for a way out.

Jac left after a brief encounter with the other Touzdae. He felt frustrated and defeated. Her memory of having stabbed him was gone. An image entered his head. The pride of lions surrounded him near the Lingam Egg, getting ready. For what? He did not know. As he left he saw a young child running by him in the passageway. Jac tried to catch up. The hooded child ran passed him and cried out:

“Fama go to the forbidden sphere and catch mafa,” She/He yelled over and over again. It was interjected with… “My names are many. I am Maja, I am Raja, I am Raj.”

It happened three more times as if she was running in circles.
