Three Bus-Inspired 50-Word Stories

Early morning Greek commute at its finest

One more Tuesday got me on a very long commute, observing the people on the bus. Sometimes I feel so bored that I even come up with ideas about games.

Usually I listen to music, but sometimes I turn it off when I notice that something is happening (like the first story here). Other times, I happen to hear something interesting during those few seconds that are required for the next song to start, so I’ll pause the music to listen to what’s being said (stories 2 & 3).

Without further ado, here are the three most significant things I heard today, in the form of 50–word stories.

“What are you looking at?” “I wasn’t even looking your way” “You got a problem with me?” “I wasn’t even looking at you” “Your eyes must be squint then” “I think it’s your brain that’s squint”

“Do you know how to get to the metro?” “Yes, which station?” “The metro.” “If you get off in three stops, you can get Line 3.” “What?” “In three stops the metro station will be right there when you get off.” “I don’t want that, I want the metro station.”

“…and she was standing there, looking at me.” “And what did you say?” “I asked her if she wanted another beer.” “And?” “She did.” “And?” “I got her one.” “And?” “We sat next to each other.” “Didn’t you talk?” “I told her that it’s my fourth beer for the night.”
