Guess Who!

A poem I wrote today on the bus

Dear reader, Have you ever wondered what I look like? If I was discovered, would I make a counterstrike?

A question remains as my silence persists Would I want to be found? Would I be prepared for all the risks? This thought is lots of fun to play around!

Who am I to you, dear reader? Another person in the crowd? Could I look like a leader? Maybe, if I had the capacity to be loud

You have plenty of clues on what I look like But, I’m not unique Perhaps if I carried around a spike I wouldn’t even need to speak

Dear reader, Could you locate your other favorite wordsmiths While you’re nested inside your own myths?

I have to repeat, for the sake of our sanity I am not unique Nor possessed by vanity Maybe my gaze is just bleak

Dear reader, I am worried that my strict demeanor and my clothes Would be a tell-tale sign of a thousand broken oaths

Despite my ability to shapeshift And change my appearance I worry I might lose my gift And I would have to run some interference

Dear reader, Are you wondering yet why am I scared to be discovered? Is it perhaps something I uncovered?

Our paths could have already crossed in a city or a town I might have stood just right beside you for a second or two We wouldn’t know, unless we waved our names around Destined to live forever in an endless game of “Medium’s Guess Who”!

This poem was written during my commute. I began to wonder if we would be able to find one another if we played a game of “Guess Who?”.

I wish I was creative enough to create such a game for my favorite Medium authors. Instead of asking questions about the appearance or what the avatar looks like, the rules would be that we could only ask about the style of writing, the types of articles usually published, and questions about the most frequent themes.

Of course such a game would only be possible if two or more people had pretty much the same favorite authors.

It was a fun thought to have though, and writing the poem made the time pass faster.

I hope you enjoyed it too, and thanks for reading!
