These Writers Are “Most Likely” to…?
Read and see if you recognize any of these usual suspects!
Before any of you readers go calling America’s Most Wanted, trying to drop a dime on the following people; you should know that I use the term “suspects” loosely.
As a matter of fact, the suspects below aren’t really guilty of anything (that I know of), except being writers who wear the playful titles I’ve labeled them.
Keep reading and you’ll see what I mean…
Many Medium writers become popular with readers
Most of us writers on Medium tend to have our own swag and special way of doing things when we write, publish and promote our stories.
As a result, some of us tend to stand out a little more than others, because we’re more vocal, visible, comical, informative, combative, conservative, confrontational, or just plain old productive.
When this happens, readers and fellow writers begin to see you in a certain light — good, bad, ugly, or any parts of all three.
As a result, I find myself reading multiple stories written by various writers, and forming my own idea of how I see those writers, based on what they write, as well as their individual writing styles.
That was how I compiled the list you’re about to enjoy. Read and see if you agree with these often humorous, but mostly spot-on descriptions of some of my favorite followers and fans on Medium.
A few Medium writers you may instantly recognize
The Medium writers I mention below are probably a few names that you already recognize. If not, be sure to take a moment or two, to see just how they got their “most likely” designation.
The votes are in. These answers are from the 1 out of 1 people polled (ME). The results were unanimous!
Here are the most likely writers you may or may not be familiar with:
- Most likely to piss you off in more ways than one is David Perlmutter — [Updated viewpoint].
- Most likely to get pissed off is Sherry McGuinn — But don’t think for a moment that she won’t piss you off too!
- Most likely to make you laugh is Michael Burg, MD (AKA Medium Michael Burg)- But it takes patience to get his jokes (pun intended :-)
- Most likely to make you envious is Abena Talks because this chick is a super productive writer, who can balance multiple balls at once!
- Most likely to make you relate is Susan Wheelock because although she’s a crack up, her stories are so spot on.
- Most likely to motivate you to do more is Tim Denning because he’s always mentioned as a Top Writer to emulate.
- Most likely to prick your conscious is Kristina God because her stories really make you reflect on your own behavior before pointing fingers (then again, what do you expect from a name like “God”?)
This is only a short list of the many awesome writers on Medium, because there are waaaaay too many of them to ever try and name!
Some Medium publications are also most likely to…
While I was writing this story, I got the idea to try and use the same theme, and do a similar story about publications.
I toyed with the idea and came up with a few thoughts about some of the popular Medium pubs.
As you notice the items on this tentative list, try and think of publications that you feel might fit the bill. Better yet, maybe you can think of some other “most likely” categories to designate your favorite OR not so favorite publications.
The ideas I came up with include:
- Most likely to publish new Medium writers
- Most likely to help you learn more about Medium
- Most likely to publish your Medium related stories
- Most likely to get you hooked on submitting stories
- Most likely to frustrate you during the submission process
- Most likely to help you earn more views
- Most likely to take the longest to publish your stories
Another usual suspect most likely to…
Since I’m such a prolific Medium writer, I’m still very productive, even though I’m no longer a daily writer who writes and publishes on a daily basis.
If I had to give myself a “most likely” label, I’d say:
The writer most likely to promote other writers and their stories is Justiss Goode because I’m a big fan of reciprocity.
Ever since I came to Medium on May 1, 2021, I’ve been actively creating different ways and opportunities to help promote my fellow writers.
Besides the story you’re currently reading, here are some other stories that provide EXAMPLES of my numerous attempts in the past.
The creative and effective ways that I previously used to promote other writers and their stories include the following:
Take a minute to see the awesome way I used Twitter in the past, to promote Medium writers. This is a great strategy you can try yourself!
Creating “Twitter Moments” was yet one more creative way that I used to help gain visibility for fellow Medium writers. Read and see how they work.
Over the months, my Daily Justiss publication offered a variety of “features” to help Medium writers get exposure for their stories. The “What I Read this Week” feature ran successfully for 11 straight weeks!
Any writer who has ever written and submitted a “short form” story, knows how quick and easy they can be to create — relatively speaking. My Tuesday Takeaways feature used to be an awesome resource for short form story writers.
One really great method that I continue to use to help promote other writers and their stories, is by finding various ways to draw attention to their titles, just like I did in the above story about: “… Using the Awesome List Feature!”
My story about using the Medium “pin” feature not only offered a valuable writing tip, but it also helped to shine a spotlight on some really cool Profile pages.
As you can see from the above story, whenever I help to promote other writers and make their stories stand out, “…I Benefit…”, so it’s always a win win situation.
That’s why I’m most likely too 😄
