Over the Weekend: A Twitter Moment of Diverse Topics & Great Stories
Monday — October 11, 2021

Happy Monday, and welcome back to the community! I don’t know about anyone else, but I had a cool weekend, and even though it was uneventful, I enjoyed myself and wore a smile the whole time.
It may have had something to do with all the fun and entertaining stories I started reading as early as Saturday morning around 9:30 am.
I love Saturday mornings, and even though I no longer work a traditional 9–5 job, I still look forward to the weekend as if I did.
This happened to me over the weekend:
Since this is typically a good day to get some errands done, I had to leave the house for a bit, before I could really settle into reading.
So after just a few short stories, I put Medium off my brain until I made a quick trip to the neighborhood discount store.
But as soon as my shopping was done, and my errands were completed, I made my way back home and changed back into my comfy sweats and tee shirt.
With nothing else pressing on my agenda, I made a cup a tea and settled in to do some reading.
Here’s what I read over the weekend:
I read a story by Ashley Richmond about a recent study concerning drinking coffee. https://bit.ly/2YC8tBD
Sunday morning, I read a story by Robert Ralph as he tries to help anyone who is struggling to earn more on Medium. https://bit.ly/2Yz90EQ
I really enjoyed a story written by Matt Hampton about the big need in the community to support one another. https://bit.ly/2YHoiHl
I really found so many stories I read this weekend to be motivating for new and existing writers on Medium as well. Like writer Jared Kaska and his story about not giving up on older stories that didn’t appear to do well. https://bit.ly/3Fw6hfP
I read a touching story Sunday afternoon called Single and Grieving, This story by talented writer Cate Monaghan brought tears to my soul. https://bit.ly/3ltljuX
I love reading on Medium, because if you do some exploring instead of accepting what the front page serves you up, there’s no telling what you’ll find.
I continued my day, having a good time reading. I enjoyed — for as long as it lasted — reading this short and sweet little ditty by writer Kelly Barefoot about a favorite selection off the Wendy’s menu. https://bit.ly/3oR4egu
As my Sunday and weekend drew to an end, I read a few more stories. My story of the day — if I had one — would most certainly be the one by writer Maxwell Jordan and the motivating story titled:
“You’re Never Too Old To Live The Life That You Want”
I became a Medium mentor over the weekend
One super cool thing that I did over the weekend was to help a new young writer on Medium. After inviting her to the platform to become a member, I decided to extend my help to her in whatever way I could.
I wanted to make sure that Crown Princess got off to a good start, so I made myself available as she set up her profile page. She was also anxious to start laying the foundation for her gardening publication: “Let Us Garden.”
I don’t mind saying, I had a great time working with this young lady that I’ve known for quite some time (we may even be related ;-)
I’m looking forward to sharing everything I’ve learned about Medium with her, and maybe she can benefit from the things I learned through a lot of trial and error.
THIS IS MY FIRST REFERRAL, SO EVERYONE READING THIS PLEASE GIVE HER A WARM MEDIUM WELCOME.
Final Thoughts
All the above-mentioned stories can be easily located on Twitter, in a single post, by visiting the current: Over the Weekend Twitter Moment.
I hope everyone has enjoyed reading my Twitter Moments over the past couple of weeks. While I’ll be continuing to create weekly moments, I don’t plan to focus them on other Medium writers exclusively.
Since my Friday writer lifts feature is already devoted to promoting Medium stories written by other writers, I decided to do a little self promotion on the weekend, to make sure I’m promoting my own stories as well.
If you would like to take part in helping to promote our fellow writers and supporting new members, there’s nothing to it but to do it.
Remember:
When we find ways to lift one another up, we always manage to rise in the process.
Have a great week!
DEAR READER: I always enjoy talking to writers on writing. Enjoy the advice when you find it useful. I write to help writers on Medium get more exposure. Whether you prefer self publishing all your stories, or you submit them to Medium publications, you can still benefit from the information. Use any related tips and you’ll begin to notice a great deal of self improvement, when it comes to your writing productivity.
