Summary

The website content reflects a hopeful and philosophical narrative about the pursuit of witnessing a rainbow, both naturally and through human intervention, intertwined with personal reflections and anticipation of nature's spectacle.

Abstract

The author expresses a deep yearning to see a rainbow, first by appealing to the universe after telling Dr. Preeti Singh about their wish, and then by actively creating one using a garden hose and the sun's light. Despite the anticipation of a natural rainbow due to the approaching storms, the author captures the beauty of a man-made rainbow and the joy it brings. The narrative is accompanied by vivid photographs of the rainbow, wildlife, and the approaching storm, emphasizing the author's connection with nature. As the day progresses, the author updates on the changing weather conditions, the arrival of thunderstorms, and the eventual realization that a natural rainbow might not appear that night. The piece concludes with references to other works by Dr. Preeti Singh, Dr. Fatima Imam, and Wendi Gordon, inviting readers to explore more about nature's wonders and the transformative power of butterflies.

Opinions

  • The author believes in the power of positive thinking and the universe's responsiveness to personal desires, as evidenced by their declaration to Dr. Preeti Singh about seeing a rainbow soon.
  • There is an appreciation for the beauty and accessibility of natural phenomena, as the author delightfully describes the process of creating a rainbow with simple tools like a garden hose.
  • The author conveys a sense of wonder and joy in observing nature, whether it's the anticipation of a rainbow or the quiet watchfulness of wildlife during a storm.
  • Despite the initial optimism, there is a hint of disappointment as the day ends without the hoped-for natural rainbow, reflecting the unpredictability of nature.
  • The inclusion of links to other nature-themed articles suggests the author values the insights and perspectives of other writers on the beauty and significance of natural events.

There Is Always a Rainbow Somewhere

I would like to see one of these things

I know I’m pushing my luck this time but I just told Dr. Preeti Singh that we are going to see a rainbow soon. I expect the universe to respond favorably. And if for some reason no one’s listening, I do have a backup plan.

One can always make a rainbow with a garden hose, a fine spray nozzle, and that big beautiful sun. Stand with the sun to your back and spray a fine mist in the direction of your shadow.

🌈 Instant rainbow.

I know this isn’t the rainbow we were all hoping for though it still brings that feeling of joy and wonder. It will have to be enough for now.

The skies are still mostly blue with just a couple of puffy clouds. Storms are definitely on their way. The humidity is intense. The bunny and chicks and most of the surrounding wildlife are quietly waiting and watching from the shade.

A bunny stops by for a bite of the apple and, of course, to watch the rainbow.

And soon the clouds with the rain and rumbling of distant thunder fill our view. Thunderstorms float through with a cool breeze. Hopefully, this rainbow will show up just before sunset. With luck and the sunlight bending just right through the floating raindrops, it will be visible above the hills to the east.

Rain falls on the thirsty landscape. The wind blows through the treetops.

I want to rid myself of this nagging doubt though. I’m not so sure now that the universe is willing to cooperate today. Storms are still rolling through and it’s getting late. Though we have a little time and all the ingredients are still here for a rainbow.

But alas it is getting even darker now. I guess we are not going to see that rainbow tonight.
