The Worst Swindle Ever

Hugh lied his way onto the ship…

Hugh hadn’t been a good man, maybe ever. He’d bluffed and cheated his way through life. Hell, he’d even lied his way onto the ship.

Worst swindle ever.

It had been thirty-eight days since he’d seen another living soul. He was the only survivor after the ship had been pounded against the rocky shoreline.

And now he was the lone castaway, fated to spend the rest of time on the blasted island. There would be no rescue. He’d accepted that.

He was destined to live out his days working to survive, and his nights reflecting on all his misdeeds.

This prompt A Drabble a Day 4: Rise of the Drabble is by Grim Flandango in The Fiction Writer’s Den. The word today is CASTAWAY.

This 80th drabble is written as part of the “100 Story Challenge” by Zane Dickens the Instigator.
