A Deep Yearning
What was lost may never be found again…
Each day was the same as any other. It was the same as all the rest now. Felix would wake up around seven, make himself an espresso, light a cigarette and scroll through the morning news. And he went to work, a job that meant something at one time.
But it was all a saudade existence. He’d experienced life in its purest form once. He’d held real life, real love in the palm of his hand. But he didn’t understand what he had. The reason why we bother to exist at all was in his grasp, and he’d let go.
Thank you to Crush Hundo Edition. I’ve chosen to write a drabble. Today’s word prompt is SAUDADE. (I love this word!)
SAUDADE: Yearning: a feeling of longing, melancholy, desire and nostalgia for a beloved someone or something. The repressed understanding that one might never encounter that person or thing again.
Thank you for reading my drabble. I’d love to hear your responses.
