The Wishing Well Portal
A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ story

This is a ‘choose your own’ story. Click here to return to the previous chapter. The beginning of the story arc can be found here.
Deep in the corn maze, you hear a trumpet sound. At your feet is… eww! A slime trail.
Following it, you see your axe against a wishing well.

You grab the axe, then peer inside. A bald green-blue creature is hanging from an upside-down tree, head just above the surface. The tree is below the water; the creature is set to fall up.
“Help!”
The voice now sounds angry.
“What are you?”
It laughs, its eyeballs spinning. “A collector. This portal promised a world.”
It snatches your axe, snarls, then clambers out.
