The Web
A poem — a pause to delight

The morning sun rose leaving behind a silky dew that accentuated the fine tapestry a spider had woven in this deserted land.
We marveled at the intricacy and gave thanks that we had stopped and could behold this beauty.
So many cars whizzed past. We might have done so too had we not felt the need to stop and stretch.
No doubt they wondered why we stopped; so easy to fly by. Nothing to see but a few bushes and dried clumps of grass with tassels of seed sticking up here and there.
But if one stopped and looked closely, a most amazing sight appeared: dozens of spider webs scattered about glistening in the morning light.
Such a joy to behold and a great reminder now to pause on the road of life and look around for the beauty that we may be missing if we simply carry on.
