The Way To Someone’s Heart

My Way or Highway?

Ears that listen,

More than a mouth that talks.

Lips that smile,

More than eyes and forehead that frown.

A heart that understands and empathizes,

More than thoughts that judge.

A hand that comforts and holds on,

More than feet that walk away from unpleasant situations.

Words that appreciate the effort,

More than a tongue that criticizes for not being up to mark.

A mind and body willing to adapt to change and compromise sometimes,

More than it becoming a matter for others to adjust every time.

A heart that’s willing to give away,

More than a brain that says, I’ll need that for myself.”

Because you see, the way to someone’s heart isn’t about my way or highway,

It’s about finding a middle ground, with a bit of acceptance, and a pinch of kindness.
