The Soft Versatile Poet Who Deserves To Be Noticed
The fascinating poet who thanks everyone
Who is this poet?
Does the pen flow first or does she write first? an excellent poet. She can write 4 poems in a day and she writes for many different publications.
I can no longer hold the secret. This soft demure poet is none other than Dr Fatima Imam?
Dr Fatima Imam is a historian turned poet. She was born and brought up in Lucknow in India and is presently in Canada and teaches History. Her creative juices never get satisfied.
She is a versatile poet. She can write even ten poems on one subject. That is her beauty. She must get it in her mind to do something, an idea and off she goes. During May she wrote so many poems as a tribute to mothers.

Her tribute to her own mother can be seen in this poem where she calls her mother very special. In her words, she says “Whenever we meet, I like to tell you again how special you are. Whenever I’m presented before the divine, I will express heartfelt thanks for making you, my mother.”
On Woman’s Day, she wrote a poem that was well acclaimed! It is a special poem and to date, I find it one of her best contributions. A Daughter’s Plea. Read it and you will know her worth. Look at the words that she uses. I cannot but help write some words for you to find it interesting to read the rest of the poem. She says
“ Let me come into this world-please let me get born. I’m your flesh and blood. I’m your heart and soul. I’m as good as your son”.
The world is always making a distinction between a woman and a man. Look at her anguish in which she speaks. She does not like discrimination and we stand by her to remove racism of all kinds like color, caste, creed, and gender.
Another well-known poem by Dr Fatima Imam is about the destruction of mother earth. She feels that we should take more care towards it. We should not allow anyone to exploit the resources of the earth. Her pain and anguish for mother earth are reflected by her words:
“What kind of family are we? We have ignited a fire in our own home. What kind of monsters are we? We have devoured our mother.”
She writes about love and heart and consequently about heartbreaks also. She feels that if the heart breaks it is not possible to mend it at all. The heart is fragile and it should be handled with love and care. It can be fixed but not repaired.
Note the poetic distinction between fixed and repaired. So in her poetic emotions, she urges everyone to look after the heart and nurture it. “Stay with love in the heart, give respect and nurture it with tender care”.
Her special qualities are that she is extremely humble and appreciates everyone who has been on Medium and has been helpful towards her in her journey.“I’m humbled by everyone’s generosity. I’m floored by everyone’s creativity. I’ve learned so much about writing from them. I’ve learned so many forms of poetry from them”.
Dr Mehmet Yildiz, The Chief Of Illumination Publications has often commented on her poems and has appreciated them too. She wrote a special Thank You poem for him.
I just want to show you how sensitive she is and how open and grateful she is for small actions. I left a comment on some of her poems that she was writing poems with sadness in her heart. It happened that she was suffering because of the Covid crisis when so many people amongst her friends and family were sick and I had just asked her at that time and she felt better.
I received the most beautiful heartfelt poem. I was so surprised to see this poem addressed to me by the goodness in her heart. Truly it was a gift of love and felt like a reward that I have received. I loved it. Thank you dear Dr Fatima Imam for this sweet gesture.

Fatima’s other interests
Fatima not only writes poems, but she also teaches history. She writes fiction and short stories. Her presence is felt on Medium. She is accomplished and writes for various publications.
Fatima is very kind and lovable. A mother of two grown-up children. She now has a wonderful cat as a pet. She has named him Luke.
