The Seasoning of the Seasons

Autumn’s arrival punctuated by the wafting spices, of cinnamon, of pumpkin spice, of strong teas and comfort.

Winter’s feast fill us to the brim with turkeys and cookies, hot choco and marshmallows.

Spring awakens with the return of birds chirping singing the dawn of a new year of growth.

Summer’s touch finally embraces us under the warmth of the vibrant sun, sneakily toying with our hair with that dash of unpleasant humidity.

These are the seasonings of the seasons, the spice that keeps the cycle of each year vibrant and alive.

Thank you to Victor Sarkin and Chirag for this poetry prompt:

And thank you to Salma Alaa for bringing me attention to this prompt through this snuggly winter piece!

I would like to challenge: Hope Coalesce, Isha Tewari Srivastava, Aimée Gramblin, Megan Tee, Dennett, Francine Fallara, Natasha Kurien, Carolyn Riker, Spyder, James G Brennan to this challenge, if you would like to! This was really fun to work with so I can’t wait to see what others might craft out of this prompt! 🍂

Lucy (The Eggcademic) is really digging deep on imagery these past few weeks, so keep the poetry prompt tags coming! A girl’s gotta practice her writing craft! She’s also written a poem about the bathroom at her first scientific conference (no imagery, I promise) and an honest and loving Ode to her Dishwasher. She finds Jennie Young’s piece “adjunct professor woman dating a dude who won’t commit, who said it?” absolutely hilarious but in a painful, too-close-to-home way.
