The Refuge
Sometimes, a child is the only relief in this confusing world…
There are cracks in the shell —
I'm stepping out...
The colours flow away — blood red, live green, bruised blue, oldened yellow — in the rivulets formed by the monsoon rain along the sidewalk.
The rain-washed air is laden with aromas of another twilight's blessed cuisine...
The cold pricks my nostrils, I have it in me — the rage, the tremble, the rebellion; I hold back only to dilute the burns within...
At night, my feet freeze; I snuggle closer to the cherub sleeping in the folds of my second skin.
She kicks off blankets, nothing beats the warmth radiating from her mother's flesh.
Fear is limiting —
I seek refuge in her innocence...
