POETRY | MOTHERHOOD
While You're Still in the Nest
Before it’s too late…
Let me caress your tender skin, rake through your soft hair, kiss away your tears, nurse you to sleep while you're still in the nest.
While you're still in the nest, let me hope, let me wrap you in my arms from the claws that scraped my flesh, and the disguised promises.
Let me carry you to your cradle, let me build you a cocoon, an oyster, with my trembles, to hide you from the storms, while you're still in the nest.
While you're still in the nest, let me gather you under my wings, warm you with my lullabies, sway with you forever to the sheer happiness enclosed.
Let me bring the world to you, though I know you can't wait to fly away by yourself, but still let me try while you're still in the nest...
