The *ONLY* Way to Reach Your Goals As A Part-Time Creator and Write Online

Breaking it down so that you can do it too

The La-la Land:

This is going to be hard to hear.

But I still want to write and tell you.

Because no one told me when I started my writing journey two years back.

You know my writing journey started as a fun hobby before I become an accidental writer.

I procrastinated for months and spent hours reading books and watching videos to learn.

I consumed the internet.

I thought it was part of the learning process.

It turned out, I was not being actionable.

What I did was just sit, read, and dream about the life I want to build.

Looking in the mirror:

When you looked in the mirror you know what to do.

I knew it all deep down but I didn’t want to admit it.

I knew I needed to sit and write, write until my hands hurt.

It turned out the answers is in doing. Taking Action.

For example:

  • You don’t need to read 10 diet books to eat better.
  • You don’t need to watch 100 different fitness videos before starting a fitness journey
  • You don’t need to read another self-help book if you are not going to use the lessons

The truth is starting is hard:

It’s really hard.

Even when we manage to start something, it’s equally hard to keep doing it.

Ask an athlete who needs to wake up early morning every day to start training without a break. And doing it for years.

Or an entrepreneur who is building a business from the ground.

Stop sitting on the sidelines:

Becoming an adult is hard.

When you are a kid, all you want is to become adult.

That freedom, independance that comes with being your own.

When you solely need to rely on yourself to do the work.

Parents, family, and teachers are not going to come and tell you what to do and what not.

You need to lace up your boots, walk on and start doing the actual work.

The only way you get good is by doing and taking action.

Building Consistency:

Consistency is just like any other habit you need to get good at.

Consistency comes when you start taking accountability for your actions.

If I look back, I worked hard but I was somewhere stuck in the routine to do better and best without finding the balance.

Now I look for

  • suitable habits,
  • building consistency,
  • and not fearing to own accountability

For things I choose to do and don’t.

Do the smaller things plug in with bigger things:

The saying is easy but doing isn’t.

There are times when I speak myself out of things because I fear the unknown, am not sure of the outcome, or it’s tedious hard work.

I carried down this road of inaction for way too long.

Whenever I get a curve ball, I will go into hibernation and it went for too long.

So to come out, I start doing tiny things.

For example:

  • Setting out the topics I want to write about every week.
  • Going for a short walk to declutter my thoughts.
  • Typing one paragraph at a time.
  • Sorting out my surroundings to minimize the distractions.

The last two years of my writing journey started with a small step.

And I am still here and ready to do the hard work.

What I meant to say is:

Show up and make things count.

There is no other way.

What do you need to do?

Stop reading and start doing.

If you find yourself reading books, watching videos, and listening to podcasts all the while thinking ‘I could do that’, then this is your sign to stop reading and start doing.

You will never get there if all you do is consume content.

If you want to become a creator:

  • write on the internet
  • create videos
  • own a business, , or whatever you need to do.

The only way you get there is by doing the work.

You have to show up and do the work.

And perhaps build a system that works for you.

As Tim Denning said it:

Stop hiding.

Stop being so afraid.

The worst that can happen isn’t what your brain imagines.

Most of what you do will go unnoticed.

Live with more courage.
