Summary

"The Mistake" is the second story arc in a 'choose your own' drabble series where a protagonist faces a demonic girl after making a grave error.

Abstract

In "The Mistake," the protagonist is confronted by a supernatural entity in the form of a little girl with black eyes and grey skin, following the events of "The Burned Village." The girl, once innocent, now displays a terrifying transformation and warns the protagonist of their impending doom, as well as that of their family. The protagonist is cornered and attacked with an arrow, leading to their demise amidst the girl's demonic laughter. This chapter is part of a collaborative drabble series, inviting readers to contribute 100-word segments to further the narrative.

This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition,” initially created by JF Danskin. Head back to the previous chapter or find out how to contribute to the ongoing story here.

The laughter continues as it morphs behind you.

You spin around to see the little girl. Her eyes are now black with skin a sickly grey. She smiles, showing sweaty black teeth.

You stumble back.

With a squelch, the girl rips the arrow from her leg. Flesh clings to the rusted arrowhead.

“You shouldn’t have come,” she smiles. “The elf would’ve protected you.”

You search your surroundings —

— cornered.

“Don’t worry. Your family will be along . . . soon,” she giggles.

With inhuman strength, the girl hurls the arrow straight at your chest. The world fades with her demonic laughter.

The End.

Thank you for JF Danskin and John Fanidis for contributing to this content leading up to this chapter.

This is a collaborative story. Please feel free to join in and add a chapter, furthering the story in any way you like. Each main part of the story (not including choices and blurb) should be a 100-word drabble. Or drop suggestions in the comments!
