The Magnificent Seven

One

  1. I am single. Until I find a partner, I am one.

Two

  1. I have two cats, Zoe and Zak. Zak is the black one like Randy Pulley’s Pudding. I spend more time with my two cats than anyone else.
  2. Like Brett Jenae Tomlin, I have two sisters. I’ve always been closer to them than the rest of my family.

Three

  1. I had a three-some once and it was exciting and fun. If you’re in a relationship, I wouldn’t recommend it.
  2. 3 Musketeers was my favorite candy bar at one time. I love how light and fluffy it is.
  3. Sigmund Freud believed a person’s personality was composed of three components — the id, ego, and superego. I pursued a degree in psychology because these theories and others are fascinating to me. I think they are interesting explanations for the workings of the mind.

Four

  1. Four bananas on my counter are waiting to get ripe enough to eat, just like Julia A. Keirns (though hers are probably not there anymore). I didn’t like bananas as a kid. Now, I eat them frequently at breakfast in my oatmeal (which I also didn’t like) or on toast with peanut butter and strawberry preserves. I also blend frozen ones in my protein shakes.
  2. I’ve been in my current role as a freelance writer for four months.
  3. I was in a four-year relationship with my last boyfriend, Joe.
  4. It’s been four years since he died.
Author’s photo; the bananas at Aldi are typically greenish and must wait their turn.

Five

  1. I am in month five of Medium’s Partnership Program
  2. According to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, a Swiss American psychiatrist, there are five stages of grief. They are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. These apply not only to death but losses of various kinds including loss of a job/career, the ending of a friendship, or divorce.
  3. Unwanted “high fives” are awkward.
  4. There are five different pastel colors in a bag of Easter M&Ms — pink, yellow, purple, green, and blue. I love Peanut M&Ms. I don’t care much for the plain ones. I don’t like to eat just plain chocolate. It needs something to go with it.
  5. There are five black keys within an octave on the piano. The piano is my favorite instrument to play and one of my favorites to listen to.
Author’s photo; It was an impulse buy, which doesn’t happen that often with me.

Six

  1. There are six bottles of various things in my shower. This seems too many for one person.
  2. There are six stories in my Medium Drafts folder. Well, partial stories, I guess. After I publish this, there will be five, so I suppose I should start another one as soon as I publish this so I’m not a liar.
  3. Six sounds very much like sex. This reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where Jerry is dating a woman who is deaf and says, “Six is good,” but his girlfriend, who lipreads, thinks he is saying “sex is good.” That was a pretty funny show.
  4. I have six houseplants because I’m pretty sure one is dead. I keep watering it anyway, hoping it will snap out of it. Can you snap out of death?
  5. Biblically, the number six means imperfection according to some scholars. This is partly because God created man on the sixth day. I think it is good to acknowledge and celebrate our imperfections. I don’t want a perfect man and truly, I don’t think there is such a thing.
  6. The sixth astrological sign is Virgo, so it’s funny that I chose to look up this number. I am a Virgo and as I was reading about the traits of the number six, I felt like I really connected with them. According to Numerology,

The number 6 is the embodiment of the heart. It represents unconditional love and the ability to support, nurture, and heal. It is a powerful force of compassion and empathy and its warm light is a beacon of hope. Its role is to use its heart and soul to be of service to others. numerology.com

I don’t feel that I have received a lot of unconditional love throughout my life and maybe that’s why I feel it for others. “Beacon” is also one of the symbols for the name Brandon.

Author’s photo; Should I let it go?

Seven

  1. I’ve had seven cars in my life.
  2. There are seven paintings hanging on my living room walls. I like paintings. I also like to paint myself (I mean paint… myself; not put paint on myself or paint self-portraits). I’m not very good, but I enjoy it.
  3. Se7en was a pretty messed up movie but it starred two of my favorite actors of all time, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.
  4. There are seven days within a week, but when you work from home on your own schedule, each one is no different than the others. Also, I’m having trouble coming up with how this number is significant in my life.
  5. Harrison Butker is number seven on the Kansas City Chiefs. I like watching them and I think Harrison Butker is very good-looking. He’s also a talented kicker.
  6. I have seven pairs of shoes, not counting sandals, flip-flops, house shoes, and water shoes. I have a pair of old shoes that have holes in them. I only wear them when I’m outside working in the garden or whatnot and wouldn’t wear them in public. They’re basically trash and I wouldn’t miss them if they were gone, so they don’t count either.
  7. Seven is the number of completion.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1e/Harrison_Butker.JPG/225px-Harrison_Butker.JPG; You may not be able to tell behind the helmet, but he’s a cutie.

Adrienne Beaumont asked to tag her in this, and Keeley Schroder may want to read it too, especially since she had a Seinfeld reference in hers as well. Like The Sturg, it took me a while to think of significant things for all these numbers but I did it, though a few may have been a stretch.
