Summary

This web content is a poignant free verse poem reflecting on the unpredictability of life and the finality of moments, objects, and experiences.

Abstract

The poem "The last time!" delves into the profound realization that life is fleeting and unpredictable. It personifies everyday objects and experiences, questioning whether they were aware of their final encounters with the subject. From the keyboard to the heartbeat, the poem contemplates the last interactions with each, emphasizing the inevitability of endings. The cosmos alone is acknowledged as the only entity that knew the subject's last night on Earth, adding a layer of cosmic awareness to the transient nature of existence. The poem is part of a publication started by Dr. Mehmet Yildiz and features contributions from Salam Khan and Dipti Pande, who have supported the poet's work. Readers are invited to explore more of the poet's work, with links to other free verse poems such as "Anima mundi" and "The hospital where I was born!"

Opinions

  • The poem suggests a deep contemplation about the significance of our everyday interactions and experiences, implying that we often don't realize the importance of moments until they become memories.
  • There is a sense of wonder and philosophical inquiry as the poem questions whether inanimate objects and natural elements have an awareness of their role in significant life events.
  • The author expresses a reverence for life's experiences, suggesting that each should be cherished as if it were the last.

The last time!

a free verse poem on the lasts in our unpredictable life

did the alphabets of the keyboard know, this tweet was his last? did the spectacles know, this was the last time his eyes needed it? did the pages of the book know, this was the last time his fingers would flip through it? did that bird on the tree know, this was the last time his ears would listen to its musical voice? did the food know, this was the last time his senses would appreciate it? did the skin of her lips know, that this was the last caress from him? did the brain know, this was the last piece of thought that would come by? did the face know, this was the last laugh it will laugh? did the heart know, this was the last beat it would beat?

only the cosmos knew, his last night, on this beautiful earth!

Thanks to Dr. Mehmet Yildiz for starting this wonderful publication, Salam Khan and Dipti Pande for sheltering a lot of my poems, here!
