Anima mundi
a free verse poem on a greek philosophy

what if, the table, front of you, has a mind, that chair, yes, that rock, foamy waves hitting it, you pray at, is conscious! simple, small atoms of consciousness, combining together, on a meta-level. a dualism of soul and mind, granted by some supreme being!
our soul’s connected, to our bodies, what if, each of our souls, every single living being, intrinsic connections, to each other, forming an anima mundi?
what if, we all arise from a realm of reality, of unconsciousness, and in the end, traverse back there? restoring that balance of cosmos, this cycle repeats and repeats, and repeats!
Anima Mundi is a philosophical concept from Plato’s school of thought which speaks of an intrinsic connection between all living things on the planet, which relates to the world in much the same way as the soul is connected to the human body.
Panpsychism is a concept that says that every single particle in existence has an “unimaginably simple” form of consciousness.
Unus mundus is another concept of an underlying reality from where we emerge and again return back to, in the end.
Thanks to Dr. Mehmet Yildiz for starting this wonderful publication, Salam Khan and Dipti Pande for sheltering a lot of my poems, here!
