PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
The Ladybug Invasion
Week thirteen of the photographic documentary of my daily life
This has been a wonderful week. Full of life. Life filled with joy. Joy about the little things in life. A ladybug. A butterfly fighting in the snow. The roaring sound of a waterfall. And a scenery reminding me of my sweetest dreams.

This is a rose at my neighbor’s house. I wanted to capture it for a while now but I have to walk into her driveway for it. I do know it’s not the end of the world but the inhabitants of this tiny village look already very suspicious at me walking past their houses every other day carrying a big camera in the hand.
Today it was quite late when I got back from the walk. It was getting dark and I spotted the shining beauty from far. Nobody was on the streets and I knew it would be now or never.

The following day I spotted already a ladybug before we left the house. I love ladybugs. Such colorful little animals. Yet rare to be seen. But not for long.
As we got back from our hike the air was buzzing. After weeks of moist and grey days, the sun finally came back. Insects flying around looking for a place to catch the last sun rays.
Sitting on our terrace embracing the moment I started to see them. The first one on my shirt. One on the table. A dark red one on the wall behind me. Another orange one on my shoulder.
What is going on?
I told you it is a ladybug invasion, but you weren’t listening.
I wasn’t paying attention to what my partner said minutes before. Of course, I wasn’t. I was blown away by the fact I got the chance to capture one of these little beauties.

Look at it closely. This is how to create art in nature. All you need is a bit of imagination and all of a sudden there is a huge snake making its way through the forest.

I think this is the first sunrise I did capture since moving to this fairytale village. I woke up and saw the uniqueness of the moment through the curtains. Definitely one of these mornings you gotta go out and be active.
Or stay inside and pack up. It’s moving day for us. Once again we do have to move. Or want to? I don’t know how to call it since it is our life choice. The lifestyle we live does force us to move around a lot. Or should I say the lifestyle we live offers us the chance to move a lot?
As you see everything in life is relative. It depends on the point of view. And since I choose to live a happy life I see most things as an opportunity.

One day after we moved all our stuff to my parents' place (which is also just a temporary location for us) we headed for the alps. It was raining all day long but we still decided to go for a hike.
During this hike slowly but surely the rain turned into snow. And the wet mountains turned into a winter wonderland. Unbelievable. Breathtakingly beautiful. The opposite of anything I had expected for the day. Making me write an entire article about this experience.

Waking up the next morning with rainy weather predictions for the entire day we couldn’t get held back but head out for nature. We went for a long walk through the stunning scenery of the snow-covered Alps. Colorful trees of autumn receiving a winter coat.
When autumn and winter meet.

After today’s hike, my feet were burning. This mountain river invited me to cool down. Quickly I took off my boots and walked over the pebbles into the water. Expecting to get a shock from the low water temperature I was positively surprised by the feeling.
It felt amazing. My feet were probably swollen from being tied in those hiking boots all day long and super warm. Putting them now into very cold water helps the circulation and relaxes the muscles.
I love mountain rivers. Not only for its roaring sound but also for the turquoise blue color and its crystal clear water.
“River whispered, mountains smile. A traveler found his soul in the valley.” — Prakhar
Thanks again to Dennett for starting this photography challenge. I love the community that got built around it in the past three months. I enjoy getting little pieces from other writers out of their daily lives and exchanging words with all of them.
