The Joys of Life Called Living

Shout-out to those who weave words that wow and inspire (Part 1)

As a storyteller, I sometimes tell stories in woven stanzas with rhyming lines where possible, as in the above. It may be seen as a poem, but I cannot call myself a poet. The 24-karat poets on this platform, those who have my unstinting admiration, are the ones who weave words that move one’s emotions. Their poems sometimes play havoc with feelings and memories that have been buried and forgotten. They dispatch the readers’ imagination in all directions, whether high or low or sideways towards an eternity of wandering thoughts.

It is just fair for me to acknowledge and express thanks to the poets on this platform whose woven words send me to heights of imagination and wonderment.

They are the ones who are very much worthy of being referred to as poets.

They are the ones who sprinkle and season our lives with the beauty of their poetry, energizing us to enjoy this life called living.

Thief A most intriguing pen name, and artful, too — perhaps part of his genius? I clicked on the link to his poem the first time because of my curiosity. Thief? I asked myself. What is he, a thief of (readers’) hearts?

And that is my romance novelist’s interpretation of why he goes by the pen name Thief. His poetry steals the heart of readers who appreciate excellent poetry. Many of his pieces, when I read them, appear to infuse in me melodies yet to be composed. It is like reading poetry lines swaying to the beat in one’s head.

Read for yourself his O Shakespeare Moderne, I Wrote You In The Fall, When you are Leaving, and many more to experience being besotted by this genius of a poet.

Connie Song A teacher and a writer who weaves words that make the readers catch their breath in wonderment. The beauty in her poetry is akin to a soothing touch. The wonderment is how she can dazzle with the words strung together to stun even a jaded heart.

Check her Through the Eyes of a Poet, Velvet Sky, A Lucid Winter’s Dream and many more. You will, no doubt, fall in love with Connie’s poetry.

David Rudder He’s a diarist and he posts poetry pieces on a daily basis — such dedication, indeed.

His About Me — David Rudder is a joy to read. It’s written in verses, as expected of an amazing poet that is David.

Read his Conversations, Mirrors of Light, Misty Interviews, Melting Moments, Mirrored Moments, Gathered in a Basket, and much, much more. See if you will not be mesmerized by the way he spins and braids his verses into exquisite poems.

J Oliver Dempsey A published poet with fellow poets Jane Hirshfield, Mark Doty, Jane Mead in the book Changing Harm to Harmony, I found J Oliver’s poetry through his daughter. She is also a writer on Medium and a co-member in one Facebook group. She suggested in a post to check the work of her dad, a new member on Medium.

I did. I also followed J Oliver, thankful that I did not ignore the link shared by his daughter. Check his Poppy, Still Standing… ( after years in prison, and a forty minute wait at the pharmacy), There is a Beauty… and many more. Your level of compassion would likely be stirred.

Najmu Sehar The number of poems he has published so far is limited. Nevertheless, each of his poems pierces the soul with the words that mirror the truth, the humanity (or the lack of it) of those around that affects us all.

Check Najmu’s Behind the Smile, Star Dust and a few more. His The Letter from Kashmir is not written in stanzas but it reads like poetry. His creativity and sensitivity as a writer shines throughout his writings.

Gurpreet Dhariwal Author of two poetry books, My Soul Rants and Kaurageously Yours, Gurpreet also writes articles and stories aside from poems.

Check her I Can Still See You From The Distance, When Will I Be Healed, My Diary and many more. Gurpreet’s poetry may not conform to the usual construction but the rawness of emotions in her poems can prick, even cut and cut deeply.

It isn’t difficult to relate with the rage and despair in her poetry, but it is easier to rejoice or breathe easily when the rage and despair are diminished with a few strokes of her poet’s pen.

There are many more amazing poets on this platform, foremost of which include Sahil Patel, Randy Shingler, Dr. Fatima Imam, Robert Trakofler, Indubala Kachhawa, William J Spirdione, Ali and a whole lot more that I am discovering and will still discover — wish I have more time.

Thank you very much for reading!
