Gathered in a Basket
Words.

Where are the words I wanted? Scattered on the ground Spread around by a strong wind Lost before they’re found.
Gathered in a basket Then sorted carefully Flowers of fruition Arranged most tastefully.
Is it ikebana? Simple and intricate A story of the elements Complex and delicate.
A tale of true emotions The struggle and the pain The wind and fire on the earth And then the drenching rain.
I look out of my window And watch the world aglow Then breathe in inspiration That only I can know.
Drifting on an ocean Washed up on the shore Lying with the shards of sand If I had wings, I’d soar.
Up into the deep blue sky Then drift back down to earth Light as a silver shadow In times before my birth.
The words are an enigma The story tells itself My family watches over me A picture on my shelf.
