The Forest — A Green Diamond of Multicolored Details Splashed on the White Canvas of My Imagination
Nature Prompt I Reciprocal Magazine
As I peer into the heart of the forest, I am struck by the sheer abundance of life and the diversity of its forms. Towering trees rise majestically above, their trunks covered in rough, mossy bark and their canopies stretching up to the sky, filtering the sunlight into a mosaic of dancing shadows.
Ferns and wildflowers carpet the forest floor, their delicate petals and fronds adding a splash of color to the verdant surroundings. The air is thick with the fragrant scent of pine and cedar, intermingled with the musty aroma of damp earth and decaying foliage.
Birds flit from branch to branch, their melodies a sweet symphony that echoes through the trees. Squirrels scurry along the forest floor, their bushy tails twitching as they forage for nuts and seeds. A gentle breeze rustles the leaves overhead, carrying with it the promise of adventure and discovery in this lush, mysterious wilderness.
As I venture deeper into the forest, I am greeted by the sound of a symphony of croaks and chirps that fill the air. Searching for the source of this enchanting melody, my eyes soon fall upon a vibrant community of frogs.
Their smooth, slimy skin glistens in the dappled sunlight, their plump bodies a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, ranging from emerald green to rich sapphire blue. Some frogs are perched on lily pads, their webbed feet barely disturbing the water as they let out a deep, resonant croak.
Others cling to the sides of rocks and logs, their suction-cup toes keeping them firmly in place as they hop from one surface to another. The chorus of their calls rises and falls, creating a harmonious blend of sound that echoes throughout the forest.
With their bulbous eyes and long tongues, these tiny amphibians seem perfectly adapted to their watery environment, darting through the water with incredible speed and agility. As I stand among them, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the sheer diversity of life that exists within this magical, verdant world.
Today I was very inspired by a few stories I was able to read. I will mention who wrote them, with the hope that if they don’t already write for Reciprocal Magazine, yet, they will consider joining us 🙏
Micah Josiah, for: They Took the Colors Away
Ilana Lydia, for: ‘Are We There Yet?’ What to Do When You Can’t Tell which Way is to the Top
