TWO MINUTE MEDITATION
‘Are We There Yet?’ What to Do When You Can’t Tell which Way is to the Top
Sometimes, forward is forward
You’re on the road. You know you have someplace to be, someplace important. For whatever reason, you don’t know the best path to take.
What to do?
If this is a metaphoric road (which it is), sometimes going forward is as simple as going forward.
You don’t have to have your end in sight. Not all days or goals are built that way. Sometimes, to break out of paralysis, any movement forward does more good than spinning your wheels in place while you try to get your bearings.
Think about forward momentum for a moment. It grows. A little push forward often results in continued motion.
Sure, it’s nice to have a clear visualization to calibrate your actions to. But sometimes that’s a luxury we just don’t have. Sometimes, any movement is better than no movement. You can always correct your course later, once you’ve gotten on your way. There’s no course correction possible when you’re still.
Try this:
- Decide to move.
- Move! Forward! Go!
- Figure out where you’re going . . . eventually. Until then, go, go, go!
This three-piece jewel isn’t a cure-all. There are times for careful planning. However, if indecision, tiredness, or other mental paralysis is causing you to stay planted, this plan can help break its spell.
