The Elden Ring Expansion Has a Smooth Development Process
Although there is still no specific release date.

In my past ramblings, I’ve blabbered about all sorts of Elden Ring stuff, and you can find those links at the bottom of this post.
But today, let’s dive into the latest buzz about the Elden Ring expansion called “Shadow of the Erdtree.”
It’s been almost a year since they dropped the bombshell about Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and honestly, it’s been crickets ever since. But don’t you worry, my fellow gaming fanatics, because there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon.
FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, just spilled some financial beans, and it’s a mixed bag of goodies and baddies when it comes to our precious Elden Ring.
So, the big question on everyone’s mind: When the heck are we getting our hands on this Elden Ring DLC? Well, brace yourselves, because there’s good news and bad news, and it’s all packed in a single juicy sentence:
“The release timing of DLC for Elden Ring has not yet been announced, but development is proceeding smoothly.”
Yep, that’s it! If you were hoping for a sudden release date bombshell as a surprise bonus, well, my friend, you’re out of luck. In their Q&A section, Kadokawa just repeats the same old tune:
“We are currently working hard on the development of DLC for Elden Ring but we have not announced a release date at this time.”
It’s like Groundhog Day in the world of Elden Ring DLCs.
So, what’s the deal with the release date? It looks like we can forget about late 2023. November has rolled in, and we’ve got zilch, zero, nada about the DLC. While a surprise drop could happen any day, I wouldn’t hold my breath for that.
Early 2024 isn’t completely off the table, but given the radio silence and lack of teasers, I’d say it’s best to keep our expectations in check.
But hey, it’s not all doom and gloom. There’s a tiny ray of hope on the horizon. The Game Awards are making a grand return on December 7, and while the show primarily celebrates the best games of the year, it’s also a prime spot for unveiling new games and giving updates on existing ones.
Remember when Elden Ring’s first gameplay reveal happened at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest? Lightning could strike twice, and maybe we’ll get some juicy Shadow of the Erdtree details. Fingers crossed! And if it does happen, let’s hope they’ve got their act together and avoid any stage mishaps.
But let’s not forget the other bits of news in the report. Elden Ring’s sales are still going strong, with “repeat sales” keeping the cash registers ringing. On top of that, FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has been a hit in Japan, boasting over 700,000 copies sold.
Final Words
So, while we’re left twiddling our thumbs waiting for Elden Ring’s DLC, there’s some consolation in the fact that the game is still flying off the shelves, and Armored Core 6 is making waves in Japan.
Stay tuned, folks; the Elden Ring saga is far from over. And with The Game Awards just around the corner, who knows what surprises await us in the world of Elden Ring?
