The Developers of Hogwarts Legacy Are Already Working on Their Next Game
Avalanche Software is reportedly developing an unannounced project.

In a couple of previous stories, I have spoken about Hogwarts Legacy. These will be linked at the end of this post. In this post, I will speak about recent news regarding an upcoming new game from Avalanche Software, the developers of Hogwarts Legacy.
What is Avalanche Software?
Avalanche Software is a video game developer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is known for its work on Disney Infinity and the popular open-world action-adventure game series, Just Cause.
Avalanche Software was founded in 1995 by four people (John Blackburn, Brian Mann, James Michael Henn, and Gary Penacho) who had previously worked at Sculptured Software, another video game development company.
Initially, Avalanche Software focused on creating games for platforms like PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. It released several successful titles, including Tak, the Power of Juju, and the Chicken Little game adaptation.
However, it was in 2013 that Avalanche Software hit its stride with the release of Disney Infinity.
This video game allowed players to collect and play with physical figurines of their favorite Disney and Pixar characters, such as Captain Jack Sparrow, Elsa, and Buzz Lightyear.
Players could place the figurines on a special portal, transporting them into the game world to complete quests and engage in various activities.
Disney Infinity was a massive success, with millions of copies sold and a huge following of young and old fans.
Following the success of Disney Infinity, Avalanche Software continued to develop games for the franchise, including Disney Infinity 2.0 and Disney Infinity 3.0.
However, in 2016, Disney announced discontinuing the Disney Infinity franchise and closing Avalanche Software.
Fortunately, the story doesn’t end there. In 2017, Avalanche Software was acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and was allowed to continue developing games.
Since then, the studio has been working on various projects, including licensed games such as Cars 3: Driven to Win and Toy Story 4 and original titles like Generation Zero and Hogwarts Legacy.
However, perhaps Avalanche Software’s most well-known franchise outside Disney Infinity is Just Cause.
The series centers around the exploits of Rico Rodriguez, an agent of the fictional agency, The Agency, who is sent to various exotic locations worldwide to overthrow dictators and bring peace to the people.
The games are known for their over-the-top action sequences, massive open-world environments, and the ability to create chaos using various tools and weapons.
Avalanche Software has established itself as a talented and versatile game developer, creating memorable experiences for gamers of all ages.
Whether exploring the worlds of Disney and Pixar characters or causing chaos in exotic locales, Avalanche Software has shown that it has the talent and creativity to make engaging and fun games that keep players coming back for more.
Avalanche Software’s next project
Avalanche Software, the acclaimed video game developer, is currently working on a new project after the successful release of Hogwarts Legacy.
The game, set in the Wizarding World, will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on May 5th and July 25th, respectively.
Many industry experts predict that the game’s release will lead to a new wave of success for the developer.
While Hogwarts Legacy has been praised for its design, some critics have found the storyline to be the weaker aspect of the game.
However, most fans have expressed satisfaction with the overall experience and eagerly anticipate any future content that Avalanche Software may produce.
The game’s director, Alan Tew, has previously stated that there are no plans for DLCs. Despite lacking DLC plans, Avalanche Software has posted a job listing for a software engineer to join its team.
The studio is emphasizing its success with Hogwarts Legacy in the advertisement, but the position is specifically for “an unannounced AAA console title.”
The job listing does not provide hints about the nature of the project, except for the expected requirements from a software engineer who can match the caliber of a company like Avalanche.
Given the lack of information, the job listing provides, fans are left to speculate about Avalanche’s next project.
While there is hope that Avalanche Software may produce future DLCs for Hogwarts Legacy, the game’s success may prompt Warner Bros. to consider developing a sequel or a different title set in the Wizarding World.
Some fans have even suggested that a Quidditch DLC could be possible since it has already been pitched in the game, and players would love to see it used.
However, it is also possible that Warner Bros. may decide to let the Wizarding World rest for a while and develop an entirely different project that has nothing to do with Hogwarts Legacy.
Historically, many companies have utilized the success of their titles to produce sequels.
However, Avalanche Software may be dividing its attention between Hogwarts Legacy and another project that is not related to the Wizarding World.
While the job listing is specific about the type of engineer that Avalanche Software is looking for, it is unclear whether the role will be focused on developing the company’s next title or contributing to an existing project.
