The Best Gift
or a good one at least
Clothes?
Nah! There’s a very obvious chance of growing out of them.
Because let’s admit it,
almost nobody stays the same size for a lifetime.
And God forbid if the clothes become smaller
They’ll curse you for the reminder that they’re
not the size they used to be.
There are also questions like
Will they like it?
Are you aware of their exact body measurements? Do you know their fashion choices well enough?
Jewelry?
Maybe.
They do say that
Jewelry is the best gift you can give to a woman.
But then what about men?
You’re sure to get raised eyebrows and frowns,
if you gift jewelry to men.
Also,
Not all women like imitation jewelry,
and let’s admit it, one can’t afford to give
gold, diamond, and precious stone jewelry,
At least not every time an occasion pops up.
Unless you’re Bill Gates or a Mukesh Ambani.
Gadgets?
Sounds cool.
Yeah, because we live in a tech-savvy world,
It’s a great idea to gift the latest smartphone,
a cool pair of earplugs or even ear pods.
But all of these come with a warranty,
And you’d have to hand over the receipt along with your gift item.
Not so cool, right?
for them to know how much you’ve spent?
If you bought them on sale or discount,
It’ll lead to even further awkwardness and embarrassment.
Books?
Ah! Yes
Pocket-friendly for the buyer,
User-friendly for the receiver.
Great for all age groups.
There’s always one for everyone,
Because someone’s favorite book might not yet have been found.
If you’re a reader, you already know the best ones to gift.
If you’re not a reader, you surely know someone you can ask.
If the receiver is a reader, they’ll be grateful for the thoughtfulness.
If the receiver is not a reader, it's a good way to get them started.
So, you see,
There’s no way to know
What the best gift for someone might be?
But, there’s always a surety that,
A book is a good gift for everybody.
