The Articles That Caught My Attention This Week
What enriched and challenged my mind on Illumination this week
This week I read few articles from my fellow Illumination writers. Some resonated so much and some led me to think and be like: hmm…interesting.
Among many great content, these are the ones that really caught my full attention and interest:
# How our own opinions can be misleading by George J. Ziogas
This one challenged me a lot because I am an opinionated person and this truly challenged me at the same time as it caught my interest and rose my curiosity.
Everyone is self-delusional. It’s very difficult to have an accurate view of life or of yourself. We’re naturally blind to ourselves, and our view of the world is very biased. We filter our view of the world through our experiences and preferences.
# Stoicism by Aurora Eliam, CMP and Daniella Mini
I enjoyed reading these two articles because I am a true fan of the stoic philosophy. Seneca being one of my favourites together with Epictetus, the titles caught my attention and the interest was also on rendez vous while reading the content of both Aurora and Daniella.
People like to say that they got lucky. And sometimes, what happened was simply that: fortuitous luck. However, I’ve found that usually it’s not just random luck, but rather preparation with a side of determination and focus
I admire the way Aurora Eliam, CMP presents her articles with a part that is educative and another that is more axed on the practical aspect with her “How to implement this guidance” sections. Remarkable and super clear and practical.
Daniella Mini pointed out a reminder as concern forming friendships and the key role of trust, patience and shared values.
Seneca also tells us not to enter into friendship hastily. First, you need to take the time to understand a person’s behavior patterns; analyze their actions, words and motives; and determine whether their values align with yours.
#The super powers of a writer by Henery X (long)
There are millions of writers in this world. Some write for fortune, others write for fame, and then you have those who write to provoke thought, with the hopes of stimulating and cultivating change.
All writers are a necessity because we exist within diversity; we all need variety because it makes living life interesting
I loved this perspective of what a writer is; especially the fact of writing to provoke a thought, stimulate change. And the idea of diversity being an essential element in making life interesting.
#Authenticity by Pamela J. Nikodem, MS
Superb and refreshing read about realness. Every sentence I was like: YES, YES, YES. Full resonance.
At times, you must be mindful of the company you keep. There are unsafe people in the world. Opening up to them may pose a problem or cause harm. Prior to opening up make sure you know and have built some trust with people.
The person who recently begun the journey to authenticity, may feel intimidated and confused by the questions. One day, the opportunity will present itself to validate the struggle and open the doors to understanding. While life is full of the questions and wonders of the curious mind, those who embrace an authentic life become stronger, one question they answer in curiosity at a time.
#Mindfulness applied by Trista Ainsworth
I love your attitude and life philosophy Trista. I believe we share few similar views on life and how it is at each one reach to create the reality we want by focusing on the little joys of everyday. Always a pleasure reading your stories and getting to know about you through your writings.
#Food and Family Joys by Kathryn A. LeRoy, Ph.D.
I enjoyed reading this last Sunday. I found lots of my own values illustrated in your story Kathryn. The simple joys of being with the ones we love, all around a table full of good food homemade, hmmmm. Laughing, playing, dancing and sharing life anecdotes…
Food makes a social gathering. In my mother’s family, meals brought us together. The food and the people bind our hearts. If we begin to drift apart or don’t like each other, we still eat. A table full of homecooked food cures many ill-tempers or sullen children
“In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.” — Alex Haley
#Personal growth and life philosophy by Aurora Eliam, CMP
I get goosebumps when I read some of your articles Aurora. It is emotional and touching. You add personal notes and experiences that make your articles unique, deep and rich.
This story touched me and pointed out truths and an empowering perspective to life. I think this story got my highest amount of highlighting of the week. Each line resonated and expressed some of my own current challenges I am facing. Thank you for your authenticity and vulnerability which is a sign of depth and courage. Sending you good vibes and warm hugs.

#Living in the moment by Marlane Ainsworth
What am I stopping from happening that would be good? What am I denying, blocking or preventing, that this world needs right now?
Let the forces of the universe flow through you to make soulful music
Marlane shares with us key take away from an online Mindful Living Summit she attended and it leaves the reader with seeds of life wisdom. It teaches us the power of letting things through, the power in letting the universe take over and let things unfold as they are intended to. Treasurable life lessons in that beautifully written and concise article.
#Self-awareness and life philosophy by Amy Marley
This quote in your story made me reflect on the powerful crescendo effect, all that starting from the illusion of fear. Impactful!
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
— George Lucas
As some of us know fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. So how about challenging our fears and go the extra mile in order to disgrace hate and suffering? Worth the extra mile isn’t it?
Until next time, stay hydrated and take good care
One love 💜
