I had a boat ride of a lifetime down Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan, Mexico. There were four of us in a small boat with a river guide. This was a side activity that was part of a road trip through the northern part of the Yucatan.

Before we did much of anything, before even going out for a meal in the early evening, we went for a walk after a longish day spent in the rental car. We then ate and retired for the night as we had an early start the next morning.

Just a short walk from the hotel the next morning took me to the harbour where we saw moored boats with pelicans and frigate birds basking in the fresh sunshine.

Finally, it was time to board the small boat for the morning tour down the river channel.

Would I go back to once again go down the river? In a heartbeat. Yet, before that could happen, there are so many places yet to discover for the first time for me.
