Why You Should Go To Sevilla in April

Explore Feria de April de Sevilla, one of the best celebrations in Andalucia all year

I went to Andalucia recently and shared our full itinerary to explore the southern part of Spain. One of the highlights of the trip was just a happy coincidence!

We didn't know that the Feria de Abril de Sevilla was taking place, and we had a lot of fun!

The fair is located in the Los Remedios neighbourhood. To make it easier, you can use this destination on your GPS: C. Joselito el Gallo, 135, 41011 Sevilla, Spain.

The Feria de Abril de Sevilla is an annual festival held in Seville, Spain. It usually takes place two weeks after the Easter Holy Week and lasts for six days.

The fair is one of the most famous festivals in Spain and attracts visitors from all over the world.

During the Feria de Sevilla, people gather in a vast area covered with tents and decorated with paper lanterns called the Real de la Feria. We heard from our cab driver that the fair was happening, and we would be able to catch some of the activities in the area.

The fair is a celebration of Sevillian culture and traditions, featuring flamenco music and dance, bullfighting, and various rides and games for children. We didn't watch any of the bullfighting (I do not enjoy this type of entertainment).

For clothing, women typically wear colorful flamenco dresses, which are often decorated with ruffles, flowers, and polka dots.

Men often wear traditional Andalusian attire, which includes tight-fitting pants, a short jacket, and a wide-brimmed hat. It is so cool to see! Even the horses have special garments.

Food is also a major aspect of the Feria. We found a wide variety of traditional Andalusian dishes, such as jamón ibérico (Iberian ham), tortilla española (Spanish omelet), and pescaíto frito (fried fish). Other popular foods include paella, churros, and a variety of sweet pastries.

The Feria de Sevilla has a rich history, dating back to the 19th century. It was originally a livestock fair, but over time, it evolved into a cultural festival.

Today, it is a major event in the Spanish calendar and attracts millions of visitors each year.

It is free to enter, as it is in an open space. If you are going to this part of Spain in that season of the year, I recommend you include Sevilla in your itinerary. The city is very lively, people are very friendly and, well, the weather is unbelievably great compared to where I live.
