Thank You For Being There For Me

You don't know me, but you still helped

You may have seen a recent story I wrote about losing an article that I poured my heart out to. It was a story about my youngest daughter, how I found it hard to bond with her.

I felt anxious about writing it and somewhat ashamed, I left myself very open to criticism and also a slight fear that one day she would read it.

I have tagged it below if you would like to read it, my heart was breaking as I wrote it and my wife cried after reading it. I don't want to spoil the sort for you, so I will say no more.

This article is less about me and more about a remarkable person who helped me in my hour of need. when I discovered that the above article was missing, my heart skipped a beat.

I refreshed my page, then rebooted my PC, logged back onto Medium and checked my articles, but no it was definitely gone. Where too? and why did it disappear?

I found a link with the article on and clicked, only to find a 404 error page, saying “The author deleted the article”. say what, that was me, but I did not do that, why would I?

I looked to see if it could be retrieved, but, no, there was nothing that I could find that would help me. I don't like asking for help, but felt I had no choice, so reached out to my loyal followers, but could anyone help me?

I decided to ask and posted this article below, maybe, just maybe someone could help me. To be honest, I knew that I was clutching at straws, it had gone forever.

People reached out to me and offered me their support, including the following people:

Alice K said that the lost article was the first one she had read from me.

Lion~ said the same and vowed to help me resolve this mystery.

Jason Cameron commenting that he wanted to read this article as a father himself and reach out to me for support.

I had several comments from one person, her drive and commitment to help me resolve this issue was phenomenal. She found me a contact from Medium, that was able to help.

Nicole Higginbotham-Hogue, you came to my help when I was desperate, you did not give up and found a solution, I would like to publically thank you. It is because of your endeavour, that the article about my little girl has been restored.

If any of my followers get the chance, please show your appreciation for Nicole, she helped out a fellow Medium member, even though I do not know her in person, she has now established herself as a Medium friend of mine.

If there is anything I can do in return, then please let me know, to my fellow readers, do you have a story like this to tell? If so please share it with us.
