Enjoy- Buon appetito!!!

Judy Derby — Hey, ya’ll! I’m a retired social worker who always wondered what I should be when I grew up. Still don’t know. Love trivia, random thoughts and short stories.

“What do you mean, it was only the one time! Don’t lie to me, Alan!” Angie was in a fine temper tonight, Jemma thought. The whole building knew Alan was bringing other girls up to the apartment while Angie worked her butt off on the graveyard shift. Sunday night was the one night she didn’t work, and the night most likely to end up in an argument the whole building could hear.

Jemma missed his reply, but the next words brought her upright in her bed.

RGomez — What’s more inspiring than creativity? I write about our lives’ dance with it: Writing. Memoir. Fiction. Humor… I seek my Higher Self in the wonders of story.

*This is a short excerpt because the story is less than 100 words?!

Impressive…

I did it all summer — until I finally left her. That day, I bought him a hot roast beef sandwich with chips. But he was gone. And I felt…

J. Salvatore Domino — J. Salvatore Domino an author and blogger. His stories run the gamut from cozy to dark.

The solitude of hiking alone deep into the desert made him both joyful and nervous. He hadn’t seen another human being on the trail for at least twenty minutes. He could do without the throng of winter visitors that crowded the trails this time of year. Yet the sign at the entry to the trailhead warned of encounters with post-hibernating wildlife. The absence of cell service meant he was alone, isolated from any help, should he need assistance.

Amanda Gravely — I am a fiction writer who loves to write fantasy and romance. Check out my western romance book, Tangled Up In Love, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YRFH37N

People buzzed around like flies, going from one place to another in an attempt to help the people milling about or sitting in chairs. The boy continued to stare at me while his mother filled out paperwork. I looked around to discover most of the children were staring at me and pointing.

One little girl asked my name, and for the life of me, I couldn’t remember what it was. I gave her a smile and shuffled my way toward the elevators. I searched my mind, trying to remember why the hospital was so familiar, but my mind was blank.

My feet moved of their own accord when the elevator door opened. Third floor, I had to go to the third floor. I had no idea how I knew that, but I trusted my instincts.

Lawson Wallace — 62-year-old married guy, I have been writing stories for years, but never submitted or published anything. I write about my successes and failures, everything.

The group arrived at the bus terminal. Minutes after the police officer who had been there all night completed his shift. Most of the men who left the shelter that morning had a stash hidden somewhere.

The working people waiting for buses eyed them warily

The men sat alone or in groups. The waiting bus passengers watched with wary eyes, as the party started in earnest. Gabe sat down on a bench, next to a Hispanic woman in a domestic uniform from a downtown hotel. Gabe had startled her, but something in his smile gave her peace. She relaxed and ignored Gabe until her bus pulled into its berth.

“It’s a party until the security guard gets here.” Gabe thought as he watched a man, he recognized from the shelter vomit on the terminal floor. The benches were full. Homeless men napping, and frightened bus passengers filled the seats.

In case you missed it, here is Part I of this collection (will publish these compilations more frequently):
