One of the future of Medium is that authors and writers take real-time pictures of their experiences and insert them into their articles. Instead of using boring generated images from Unsplash that most of us suck at (I’ll explain shortly) and AI robots from all over the world.
When I say most of us suck — here’s what I mean. As a reader, how often do you open an article and are confused about what that image has to do with the article? And as a writer, how often do you try to find an image via Unsplash to fit your idea of the article and find nothing, so you settle for a whack one?
Exactly!
Readers would want a personal touch and feel as they read articles.
A quote by Mike Sansone comes to mind:
“At our core, we all want to laugh, be listened to, and want to be loved”
And may I add, more than anything:
we want to connect!
Readers want to see what you do outside of Medium, who you hang out with, your dog (like Ryan Canady), and the cave where you write from, just like how Melissa Billeaud used her images in this article:
Readers want to know who the author behind the words is.
And how do we achieve this? By resorting to what I’d like to tag:
Author-Generated Images (AGI)

Another future of medium writing is writers interviewing other writers. Not ONLY Medium but across all writing platforms. We’ll be seeing lots of wordcasts (podcasts but in words).
Wordcasts, textcasts, whatever cast you want to call it, but the idea is to interview authors, fellow writers, or exciting people across the internet. But reading a podcast-style interview, you know, is the future of medium writing and writing in general.

This approach can bring a personal touch to the interaction while catering to readers who prefer WRITTEN content.
As a writer, you can interview your old or younger self. I mean, your future self interviewing your past or older self. ) Oops! Did I give someone a weird idea🫣)
I hope I’ve been able to convince you and not to confuse you that the future of Medium is AGI (Author generated Images)?
