Have you ever been in a sex situation where the condom you were using broke? This is a discovery that can be extremely stressful to go through, but how many partners actually experience this kind of anguish?

“Most condom breakage or loss are due to human error….”

According to a survey conducted by Adam & Eve, it may actually be more common than you think. When the sex toy company asked 1,000 people whether or not they’ve had a condom break, or come off, during sex, they found that 41 percent of respondents had, while 59 percent had not.

Dr. Jenni Skyler, Adam & Eve’s resident sexologist, admits that she was surprised by the results, but stresses that this sex accident does not have to happen.

“Condoms are 98 percent effective when used correctly and consistently,” she said. “Most condom breakage or loss are due to human error, such as poor handling, or using an expired or ill-fitting condom.
